Injury update/Niko ready/Heerenveen tickets

Injuries

Pompey are hoping that three key players will be fit to fly to Germany tomorrow night after they missed Sunday`s win over Blackburn Rovers.

The three are skipper Sol Campbell (toe injury), John Utaka (hip) and Younes Kaboul (ankle). Of the three Campbell is rated the most likely and with goals being shipped alarmingly recently would be a welcome addition to the squad.

Several other players picked up knocks on Sunday but expected to shake them off in time.

Niko hoping for Euro bow

Croatian midfield star, Niko Kranjcar is hoping to play his first Uefa Cup game for Pompey in Germany. Ankle injuries have so far prevented Niko from playing much at all this season and he is definitely the type of player that Pompey need in this vital game.

Despite still being only Kranjcar has won nearly fifty caps and played in European competition with both his former clubs Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split. He is without doubt what you would call a European type of footballer and a very good one at that and his fitness would give manager Tony Adams plenty of choice when structuring his side.

Christophe back

Jean Francois Christophe has returned from his loan period with Southend United after picking up a hamstring injury in the Shrimpers` FA Cup Round 2 match against Luton Town at the week-end. His loan was due to complete Saturday when Southend take on League 1 leaders Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium.
United manager Steve Tilson is positive that negotiations with his agent have gone well and Christophe will return in the January transfer window either on loan or as a permanent move.

Heerenveen tickets

Pompey have around 300 tickets left in the Milton end (Apollo Stand) for the UEFA Cup clash with Heerenveen at Fratton Park on Wednesday, December 17. Seats had sold out but more became available when the Dutch club returned part of their allocation.
Snap them up folks they are only £20 and this could the crucial group game.

Transfer rumours

With the transfer window now only four weeks away the press are beginning to stir up the mud with some rumours more widespread than others.

Pompey striker David Nugent has emerged as a January transfer target for Everton boss David Moyes. Will Yakubu out for season and injuries to other strikers the Toffees are being tipped to swoop for Everton fan Nugent.

Arnand Traore is being tipped to join Middlesbrough in the transfer window. It is expected that Boro will lose England winger Stuart Downing and Traore is being mentioned as a possible replacement.

Wolfsburg Weather

The latest forecast for the Lower Saxony area suggest that there is a chance of snow tomorrow but that Thursday should be bright with a maximum of only 2°C.

Wrap up warm.

Good round up of the days news so far Dave. Nugent on loan to the Toffees hey. I think that is one loan move that he might just take up if it is true. i would have thouhgt that Moyes might have preffered a proven striker though?

I think Niko is the most talented player in our squad and we should keep hold of him at all costs. A great player and great professional. Nugent to Everton is a great shout - we all know they are stuck for strikers, so therefore could probably up the price a little bit!!

Cheers Dave. Wolfsburg 2 degrees. Brass monkey weather then. Let's hope our long trip will be worth it. A win would certainly warm us up.

Everton may go for henrick larsen, thou Nugent seems to only be 4th inline behind Kanu. Surely Boro can't get Traore his loan is till the end of the season?

kranjcar provided the creaticity to unlock blackburns defence that we so lacked in the first half against them - and I think we have missed him with our long tring of draws. Traore to boro I actually take as good news. Not becuase I want him to go to boro, but becuase it suggests that the media think he COULD be available for transfer in january... and if we COULD keep him, that would be amazing!
