Pompey start cup defence at Fratton

Our defence of the FA cup begins with a home tie against Bristol City in the 3rd round, with the game taking place at Fratton on Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th January. It will almost certainly be on the box, so no Saturday 3pm kick off - I suspect we face an early 12.30 kick off on the Saturday to be honest...

Ball no.29 was the number we were waiting for and as silence fell over the Milton Arms this afternoon at around 2.30ish this was the first number called - 'blue army' started, and seeing Bristol City drawn as our opponents was not exactly disappointing either, with all due respect!

I am more than happy with this tie I tell you, it will not be easy of course, but it could have been much tougher so the defence starting against the championship side suits me - but they will of course be desperate to win, not only for the premier league scalp, but the 'defending champions' scalp as well will be one that all will want...

not the biggest team in the world, perhaps a possibility of vital members getting seats near each other? then we could get the vital songs going

a tricky tie - anyone know the name of the last holders to crash out in their first defence of the trophy?

Do they get the cup holders' number done first as a sort of tradition? Otherwise this seems freaky.

First out that, at home against a team in a divison below. That will do. As the holders, we don't want to go out straight away. Though it won't be easy. Bristol City have had their cup exploits.

A good medium team that will threaten us as much as most the teams in our cup run last year. Should be a good game. Number 29.

No More Quarter Final Replays For Pompey

Should Portsmouth progress through to an FA Cup quarter final from the 2016/17 season onwards, the game will no longer be subject to a replay.

Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.
