==========

ACADEMY LOSE TO NORWICH

Norwich Academy 1 Pompey Academy 0

Everything was against Pompey Academy on Saturday as they quite literally slid to their fourth straight defeat against Norwich.

The teams had to come off on several occasions because of blizzards which made football unplayable at the East Anglian side's training complex.

To add to their dismay, Pompey controlled the game only to find themselves beaten by a single sucker punch.

Norwich striker Kris Renton struck the only goal on 35 minutes following a return from one of the weather-enforced breaks.

He shot past Liam O'Brien in the Pompey goal after Korey Smith had trudged through the snow to set him up.

Pompey had several chances prior to the goal however, with Andre Blackman striking the crossbar, Ellis Martin forcing a fine save from Declan Rudd and Tom Kilbey flashing a shot wide.
But Norwich could have doubled their advantage just before the interval. Only a smart stop from O`Brien prevented Renton from adding a second.

Half Time: Norwich 1 Pompey 0

The Blues continued to press forward in the second half with Paris Cowan-Hall and Pablo Navas-Alors both finding themselves one-on-one with Rudd, only to be denied by the Canaries keeper.

Norwich substitute Luke Daley then almost scored against the run of play but his effort was well saved by O'Brien.

Kilbey looked like he would rescue a deserved point for Pompey when he raced through on goal, but his shot sailed over the bar.

There was still time for one more snow-enforced break, before the players returned as the clouds broke and the sun began to shine through - unfortunately it appeared to be shining on the hosts.

After a great start to the season it is starting to look a bit bleak (excuse the weather pun) for the academy now.
I hope that Pablo Navas-Alors turns out to be a great player, as he has a fantastic name! lol
