No sooner do I publish an article detailing comments from Peter Storrie about ignoring all the nonsense in the press and requesting that we as fans get on with supporting our club then our very own local Newspaper 'The News' run a sensational story entitled
'Breaking news - Pompey's new stadium in doubt'
Having read the story it seems that the only thing that has changed since the last update is that the council 'THINK' the changes to the proposal to include shops in the development would almost certainly spark a full-blown public inquiry.
The reason for this being the fear that shops at the site could threaten Gunwharf and the proposed Northern Quarter city centre development
Peter Storrie has said that he still hopes that a planning application will be ready to go before the council early in the New Year after talks between the club and planning officials.
So nothing has actually changed other than a few council members have 'thought' something.
Nonsense in the national press is one thing - Sensationalism in our local press, who claim to be behind the club is out of order
I say 'The News' - 'Shame on you!'

Oh silly me! ... The breaking news is actually that 'The News' have launched a 'NEW' stadium section to their website and to get everybody to visit they are recycling all their old stories as 'Breaking News'.. bang out of order... We will no doubt hear that Brent Geese have scuppered the plan later this afternoon..

Just come back into the office from having glanced at the News in a shop, and seen this headline, and started to worry - silly me. Glad I read this article and put things in perspective a bit more.

Matt, you may be right there unfortunately. It won't be wilderbeast and stag ants, but something will surely rear its orrible 'ead or 'eads - and that will be after we have sorted out the shops vs houses conundrum. But hey, isn't it a fact of life, Pompey have to fight for everything - nothing comes easy! That said, winning the FA Cup has probably put the Council behind us, they are suckers for anything that "puts Portsmouth on the map". The Parade Day will have got a lot of them thinking.

Good to see that the club have now issued a 'Statement' distancing themselves from The News article.. maybe they took the lead from this article !! Remember where you hear things first people !

Sorry to say this but The News is a particular poor example of a particularly cr*p trade - to put out a paper every day in a city with fewer people than most London boroughs means you really have to scrabble around for stories, then inflate them to pack the pages out. Pompey is a great city but there really isn;t that much happening to justify a daily paper. My mum is convinced that every corner has a rapist/paedo/mugger (sometimes all three) and barely goes out because of what she read in that paper.
