A Message From Uncle Peter

Love him or hate him Pompey's executive chairman Uncle Peter Storrie has sent us, the Fratton faithful a message.

The message is loud & clear and although addressed to us is also aimed at the media who seem to have it in for all things Pompey at the moment.

Having quashed the '£10m contract clause for Diarra' issue (as reported by Eastneydave yesterday) Uncle Peter went on to ask us fans to ignore the recent string of stories he claimed had been targeted at Pompey for no other reason that disruption.

"I have to say to the supporters, please don't listen to the rubbish and the nonsense.
There are stories every day knocking Pompey and I think the vast majority of fans are as bored of it as we are to be honest."

Well I know I am, and judging by some of the posts we've seen on Vital Pompey recently I'd suggest that he's spot on - Never let it be said Peter Storrie is out of touch with the fans - In my opinion this proves he is completely 'in-touch' and knows that we too are stick to the teeth with story after story of new owners, new managers and players being sold etc..

And there's more…
Referring to all the other 'nonsense' about takeover bids and player exits we've had to put up with since Harry left, Peter saved his best to last and added:

"We're bored of all this discussion of finance, we're bored of all this discussion about whether Sacha owns the club or doesn't.
It really has got to a point where there is no point us talking about it any more - and I hope our fans understand why.
Why should we keep answering these every single day? Every day there is some other rubbish about bids put in and this player going. It's complete and utter nonsense. We are fine, we are very, very happy with our club at the moment"

And finally…Look Out West Ham!
The final part of The News report was also quite welcome as he summarised his thoughts:

"If things are going to change, then we will tell everybody.
At this moment in time, it's work as normal. It's only because we are successful that this is going on.
We've got a good set-up here, we've got good players and there's jealousy coming in. It looks like these people have just started on West Ham. So we'll probably come off as flavour of the month, they're going to be the next."

I think Peter Storrie needs a pat on the back for his latest comments and although as you read it, it sounds like a bit of an outburst I think he has set his stall out, quashed the rumours and where relevant, asked for the support of us fans in ignoring the nonsense and get on with supporting our club, as it is today!
