Adams pulls off transfer coup

Tony Adams has pulled off quite a transfer coup to make Ghanaian 'wonderkid' Torric Jibril his first signing as Pompey manager.

The 17-year-old midfielder has signed a 3-year contract and as he told The Sun he is out to impress: 'I'm sure very soon I will be one of the best players in England.

'God willing I will live up to my potential because with all these facilities here in England I will not disappoint.

'Where I have come from we don't have all of these. So the sky is the limit.'

It is a done deal as the fella has been pictured holding a Pompey shirt with no.10 Torric on the back.

We have beaten off competition from two of Europe's finest in Arsenal and Real Madrid to sign Torric, so with these sides in the running for him alone means he cannot be bad, beating them to his signature is even better and will hopefully be quite a feather in the cap of Adams.

Will Adams have the nerve to give the youngster a run-out this season or is he another for the future? If he is good enough he is old enough as the old saying goes...

He's gotta be something special if all the rumours are true.

Sounds good. No official statement on the PFC website yet but there's a report on the Ghanaian FA site. Another article I read stated that a continued relationship has been set up between Pompey and Heart of Oak including an academy in Ghana, trials, loans etc. A loan to Zulte Waregem was also mentioned.

Diarra's replacement then?

Sorry, but who? I guess since I don't play Football Manager anymore, I don't know any of the hot upcoming talents?

So called picture: http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00638/Torric_Jibril_638934a.jpg

theres a 10 minute youtube video on him, but it is pretty rubbish

im slightly concerned by this now, as there is no word from pompey - not even in the news... and the 'image' of him holding the shirt seems a bit 'strange' clearly its fresh from the club shop, as it still has the labels on, and as has been pointed out to me isnt nugent no.10?
maybe im worrying without need, but 'maybe' i was a little hasty in running with this?
pompeyrug
Whats with the rumours that he failed his trials at other clubs? All seems a bit suspect to me really at the moment.

That picture could be of any kid outside the Mega store with his new shirt!! Not that I am at all concerned about the truth of the story.

hmm dodgy i'd put a question mark on the end of that title if i was u rug =) (not like i'm a pessimist or anything lol)

The signing has been broadcast on local radio, so must be something in it, SkySports have covered too.

I think it's real... anyone know what position he plays though?

I'm loving that random picture - got a day off tomorrow might nip down the Pompey shop myself - watch out for Adams' new transfer coup PFCGino.... Seriously though, I agree with Rug's comments though - it does seem a little odd he's taken Nugent's number, and the picture is a bit 'funny'. Hmmm....I suppose this is the media's way of cheering us up somehow?!

Here is some more pics of Torric with his Pompey shirt: http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/SportsArchive/photo.day.php?ID=152580 The site also has a little article on Torric.

Looking around there is also some confusion over his age. His wiki page has him at 16 and most Ghana forums I have seen can't agree how old he really is. He looks rather short in his picture, but who knows.
pompeyhouston
I can't even locate a wiki page for him Houston.. what were you searching under ?... Another thing .. Ghanaweb state he has played international football but the Ghana Assiciation site don't even carry his name.. And the Pompey new are spelling his name JIBRIN not JIBRIL.. echos of Yakubu and Benjani me thinks.. and even looking at the picture of him with Paul Hart still makes me think that it's some kid who has wondered off the street and is having a site-seeing day out
Chix
His wiki page is under the name Tawrick Jibril. It seems like everyone has different information about this kid. I must have found his name spelled five different ways.
pompeyhouston
lol only in pompeyland!

well, jibril or jibrin he has officially been revealed as a signing now - so panic over!
pompeyrug
Remember Yakubu...I thought who was he. End of story.
