ACADEMY SUFFER CHELSEA DEFEAT

Chelsea Academy 3 Pompey Academy 0

Pompey Academy slumped to their second consecutive defeat, losing by three goals at the hosts' Cobham base.

It was the Londoners who had the game's first chance but Frank Nouble's shot was blocked by Lennard Sowah.

Nouble was looking dangerous and James Hurst had to head the ball over his own crossbar to deny the Chelsea striker, who was well-placed at the far post.

But as the half progressed Pompey began to look stronger and, on 30 minutes, only a fine save by Jan Sebek prevented Ellis Martin from breaking the deadlock.

Then, with the interval fast approaching, Pablo Navas-Alors' shot was superbly cleared off the line by Vincenzo Camilleri.

Half Time: Chelsea 0 Pompey 0

But after the break the hosts hit three great goals to seal victory. Conor Clifford opened the scoring on 49 minutes, curling a 20-yard effort into the top corner of Tommy Smith's net.

Navas-Alors could have levelled the scores when he raced through on goal but he dithered too long over his shot, allowing Thomas Hayden to clear.

Chelsea then doubled their advantage on 64 minutes when Nikki Ahamed bent the ball home with the outside of his foot.

With five minutes remaining Nouble added a third, finding the net with a thunderous effort from 25-yards.

Pompey: T. Smith, Hurst, Sowah, Woodford, Reynolds, du Chattelier, Pack, Kilbey, Martin, Cowan-Hall, Navas-Alors
Subs: O`Brien, Ryan, Mantyla, Price, Ciftci, M. Smith

Second defeat in a row.. very unusual .. I wonder if they feels the effects of Redknapp leaving even though he wasn't involved day to day with the Academy...

Movement of the people

There will be no exodus but as Bob Marley said there would be movement of the people, actually 'movement of Jah people', at Fratton in order for Jackett to bring players to Pompey.

So long Smithy?

Having made it clear the arrival from Ipswich of (now captain) Pitman meant a forward could leave Fratton Park, Smith is seen as the odd one out in four for Pompey boss Jackett.
