'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adams keen on Keown/Storrie denies reports

Tony Adams has confirmed to The News that he wants to bring Martin Keown to Pompey to be his no.2 - and talks will take place this week as he looks to get his man installed quickly: 'I have a few people in mind and Martin's one of them.

'I've spoken to him and had a quick conversation with Arsene Wenger about Martin. Arsene was thinking about taking him himself.

'I know Martin inside out because I've played with him for so many years.

'There are a few other people as well, and I want it in place fairly quickly because I'm doing too much work to be honest.'

Whenever, and whoever comes in, and there have also been murmurs that Dennis Bergkamp could be another that is being looked at, Adams insists that Joe Jordan will remain part of his coaching set-up: 'Joe will be part of my team - 100 per cent. I want him here forever. He's a good ally and will do the same job he's always done.

'There was never a question of him going.'

I am more than happy to see Keown come in as the no.2 if that is what is wanted, and he is said to have gained his qualifications very quickly and to a very high standard, with him highly regarded as an up and coming coach and potential future manager. Also you have to think that If Arsenal want him onboard then he cannot be bad can he!

Either way, as I have said before, and as has been said anyway keeping Jordan is essential...

==========

Also, weekend reports claimed that 'a deal' had been struck with Spurs to give Harry Redknapp 'first dibs' on our stars should they be sold, but Peter Storrie has dismissed this as 'laughable' in telling the Pompey Site: 'this is laughable. It's a ridiculous article.

'I have had no conversations whatsoever with Harry about players and he can confirm that.

'We have an excellent squad, but it will be new manager Tony Adams' decision on any players going in and out of Portsmouth Football Club.'

I sincerely hope that the manager does have the final say on these matters, but to be honest its not going to be that simple is it... So, if we sell, we will sell - and rightly so - to the highest bidder!

I suppose we gotta let Tony control the team as he sees it.. Keown it is then, but hopefully Jordon stays. The day where players are sold on Ebay is coming my friends..

Bring on Keown, if we loose a match Tony and Martin can just go and knock out the other manager! Give me a HELL YEAH!

At least with Adams and Keown at least one of them will stick their arm up if something goes wrong !! As for the Redknapp priority on our players story .. whoever made that up needs sacking.. it's just not believeable .. Even if we were to sell ALL our players why would we close the door to potentailly higher offers.. The writer is a moron !
