Redknapp goes to Spurs!

It has been confirmed that Juande Ramos has been sacked by Spurs and Harry Redknapp has taken over!

His sacking did not surprise me at all, its been coming for a while now, but more worryingly for us was the news that we had given Redknapp permission to talk to Spurs about the vacancy and he has gone.

An English manager that can steady the ship, bring the best out of players and get them going is exactly what Spurs need and Redknapp would offer all of that and more...

He kept saying that he would not leave us again but he has - and I think that he will undo so much of the good work he has done since returning from the lot down the road by doing this... Keeping us up, getting the players that he has, winning the FA cup and getting into Europe will never be forgotten but walking away again would tarnish this and sour his time with us.

It had been confirmed that we accepted an approach for Redknapp and he would hold talks with them. To be honest for us to have announced something at such a late hour the night before a game suggests the two clubs held tentative talks about this over the past couple of days - probably why he has been so quiet since our defeat in Portugal, maybe why he did not seem that bothered by it!

This throws our plans into turmoil for Fulham and leaves me worrying about players he might take with him...

He always talks up Spurs - and teams of there stature - he has always wanted that chance at one and now has it. I do not like Spurs, but will be hoping even more that they go down! I am gutted, devastated and feel let down - I just pray he does not come back for our players in January, as if he does I feel they will go. The good times could be coming to an end guys...

So now we must find a new manager, I bet it will be Sam Allardyce - although I hope not... Ramos anyone!

..........Pompey now stand proud as an established Premiership outfit and FA Cup holders, the speed at which things can come tumbling down is never far from the back of my mind. Fingers crossed a bright future lies ahead but maybe some of the younger supporters will now understand why this ten year old kid has a very modest '38 point' dream each season and is so grateful just to see Pompey play in the Premier League...............

It's your fault Chix. Jinxed us. No seriously it's so bloody strange how coincidental these things are. I only hit News Now by accident and I saw all this.

we will now see how much 'playing for pompey' really means for the likes of diarra, defoe, crouchy, johnson and so on - 'when' HR comes in for them, we will accept offers (and he knows he will have us over a barrel as we need the money!) i fear most will go and prove that most footballers are without doubt mercenaries these days...
you'd hope that we have an agreement that he cannot return for players in january, but again we need the cash!

And it ain't gonna stop now 123... Pomepy is bigger than Harry always was and always will be ... I hope he has more success with you than he with the club he last left us for .. actually I don't !

It's a big loss and many of us at Chelsea feel terrible for you. Leaving a good squad for one going nowhere but down is a strange choice and as a neutral observer, I am a little shocked by Harry's decision. After Allardyce left, Bolton became woeful. Hughes goes and Blackburn aren't nearly as good. There are other exas but my point is clear enough: Harry will be so tough to replace because he elevates the players. Ramos had money and a reasonable amount of talent and yet he was a flop. Harry will make them better and I'm sure that will be painful for you all. Best of luck and I hope you find a good replacement.

Sorry we had to take him but we really had to, he's everything Ramos isn't and with him on board I think most Surs fans will believe we can actually get ourselves out of this mess. What would you think of Adams moving up a rung and taking over the reigns?

Spurs Fan here. I'd like to express my embarassment and also to offer apologies to all Pompey fans. Yet again our awful board have disturbed a club that was going places with modest financial backing to compensate for their utter incompentence. As a Spurs I suffer daily with anger and utter despair at our board's decsions over recent times and now that anger will no doubt spread to you lot, continiuing to make Spurs the most laughed at, hated and mocked club in the country. Don't get me wrong I love my love my club. I love WHl and the passion of our supporters. I love the history of the club, based on attractive attacking football played in good spiriit and FAIRNESS but, piece by piece, our board are tearing that soul and history part. The board are also total hypocrites, complaining aboout the diminsihing value of contracts and crying to the FA when 'larger' clubs come in for our best players (until, of course, they are offered a backhander) yet they in turn use their relatve financial might to lure players and managers away from so called smaller clubs because they themselves know nothing about football and have to scab of the resources and ingenuity of others to make up for their criminal errors (treatment of Jol and appointment over the years and appointments of Commoli and Ramon)s. Meanwhile Levy and co will get away with it and when they eventually sell the club will walk to the bank laughing, effectively rewarded for damaging the club that I and so many others have loved for as long as we can remember as well as damaing football iteself. This is yet another nail in the coffin of football becomming less of a 'sport' and further shows the hierarchy that is present today with clubs like Spurs sucking up to the big four and bulleying the premierships poorer clubs. I will always love spurs and will be there tommorrow. as always but I'm not sure if this a sport anymore. In footballing terms I am releived that at last we may get some stability unless our board can find some way of messing things up for us but have only achieved that by raiding you lot. All the best for the season!

You can't replace Redknapp, he is a off. Everything great that has happened to this club is because of him & the players he brought to the club. Now the whole thing could collapse like a pack of cards & we will be flirting with relegation & all the **** that goes with it. This was the fear I always had, what would happen when HR went. I wasn't expecting it yet though. If we need the compensation money we are in real trouble! Diarra, crouch, James, Johnson you could see in Spurs colours, even defoe could go back. Ans as we have seen it doesn't mean we can spend all that money or even begin to replace them. FCK, FCK, FCK.

I'm just grateful we have 13 points on the board already this season.. whoever takes the reigns just has to secure approx a point a game to maintain our status.... Sod Europe now, sod retaining the FA Cup our priority must be to accumulate league points to retain our premiership league status

puhlease not allardyce!!!! but we need a manager REALLY quickly if the club skimp and try to get Adams to do the job them we are down, he aint ready yet. Clearly we are in financial straits and i think HR leaving merans the buyer has dropped out. how are we going to keep the likes of Diarra, Niko , Jermain, Crouch or Traore

The bloke is a disgrace to your club, he has no loyalty and although these people (and players) are staff not fans, he should not have said he won't be going again only to walk out. If it was for the England job I'm sure you'd all understand but not this. It is to a big club (and I hope they go down with him at the helm) but what about a bit of common decency? The bloke hasn't got any, as we saw this season and last pulling Villa's good name through the mud. He goes on about the fans swearing in front of kids and wives etc only to swear like a trooper and even turn on the crowd calling thema ******** disgrace. That is swearing in front of kids and wives isn't it!??!?! Hope you get a decent replacement quickly, maybe Tony Adams could step up to the plate? Don't go for DOL though... honest, don't!

sad, guys. Dont worry, i'm sure your next manager will be good, if not better. Just wish 'ol 'Arry good luck and move on. I just hope it'll be a good choice like Allardyce. Remember what he did at Bolton? Its a tough phase, guys, but just remember, EVEN if you guys play badly for a while. you just CANT beat them SPUDS for amassing least points... They suck, while you guys rock. Remember that. I'm from Chelsea, and I give all my support to you guys.

Hi All, i am new to this site, and have joined to share my utter dissapoinment, that Harry has left us YET AGAIN! I think that all will agree that this time i think Harry will not be welcomed back again, i am just as worried as im sure you all are that Harry will plunder the squad in the January transfer window, he has put together such an amazing squad for this season, and seeing how they all play for him i think there will be a mass exit about to happen. Now to the future who will replace him at Fratton? Big Sam, King Kev, or Tony Adams? Will they be able to carry on with the great job Harry has done for us in the two stints he has been with us? Ahead is a troubled time at Fratton, it goes to say that in this troubled time will the board go and sell our great players or will they try to keep them at Fratton so we can build on what Harry has so kindly built for us? Will the onwer look to the future and build the new Stadium or will he like so many others look after himself and sell, sell, sell and not invest? We will just have to see? Only the future will tell. I hope like all of us that the board/onwer will listen to the Fratton faithfull and select a great manager to lead us forward in Europe and the league and not do what so many in the past have and sell. My money, if i was in charge would be King Kev he has a simular stile of football to Harry and also has a great track record. 2nd choice Big Sam/Tony Adams. Anyway i would like to thank the kind words of those (other club supporters) who have expressed their sympathys in the forum. Mostly the Spurs fan who is utterly ashamed of the board at Spurs. Many Thanks to all who read this and i will enjoy your thoughts and answers.
