ACADEMY DRAW WITH IPSWICH
Pompey Academy 3 Ipswich Academy 3
Pompey's tendency for riding the rollercoaster was in evidence again at the Wellington Sports Ground, as they fought out a 3-3 thriller with Ipswich.
Goals, comebacks and late drama have been a feature of Academy performances this season and this latest match was no exception.
Pompey had to wait until ten minutes before the interval to grab the lead when Ellis MARTIN fired home after a sweeping move involving Tom Kilbey, Gael N'Lundulu and Peter Gregory. However, the visitors were soon level when Callum Reynolds impeded Rowan Murray in the box and Paul Murphy stepped up to slam home the spot-kick.
Half Time: Pompey 1 Ipswich 1
Ipswich then raced into the lead shortly after the break when Reggie Lamb crossed for Murray, who beat Liam O`Brien in the Blues goal.
But Pompey have recovered from being a goal down several times already this season, and they did so again against the Tractor Boys.
On the hour, Spanish substitute Pablo NAVAS-ALORS had barely entered the fray when he scored a wonderful individual goal, lobbing the ball over keeper Lewis Ward having spotted him off his line.
Then Tom KILBEY got in on the act, nodding in Gregory's cross after the defender had worked himself into space.
But the Suffolk side replied once more when Seb Dunbar's cross caught O'Brien in two minds and the keeper was only able to help the ball into the net.

Subs not used: T. Smith, Collins, Woodford
