'If It's Football, It's Vital'

HR's not a happy/Sol for England - again!

We all know what happened at Villa Park at the weekend, and we all know that Harry Redknapp was not pleased as his reaction to reporters proved: 'some idiot has thrown an object and it's caused a very bad cut on the linesman's head.

'I am sorry for Phil and sorry for our beautiful game. I was lucky. Lucky that he was a f****** s*** shot. He hit the linesman instead of me.

'Don't ask me why - what have I done? Maybe it's because we won here 3-1 last season and they're not used to losing at home. But who deserves that?

'I never said a word to anybody. I stood up for about a 20th of the time Martin did. So I just don't know.

'To have something thrown at you by a coward and moron - it's a very, very brave person who did that, isn't it? When people behave like that you hope they catch them on CCTV and ban them for life.

'I certainly didn't see who did it. I looked round and there was a guy shouting obscenities and making filthy gestures. And there were young kids there.

'It makes me scared for the game when people behave like that. It's so sad.

'You come out of grounds these days and see granddads with their grandkids making filthy gestures and sticking fingers up at the coach. I think it is horrific.'

Redknapp was right to be upset and angry. Like him or not, this does not excuse any object being thrown at anyone. I have never had a coin thrown at me, but I can imagine that it bloody well hurts! The closest that I came to this was actually unfortunately enough also at Villa Park. This was last season, but luckily for me, unfortunate for the TV star that is The Fear - he was featured on match of the day 2 last night - it hit him and he was not best pleased!

This fool has not only let themselves down, they have let Villa fans down and tarnished the reputation of football fans throughout the land and as said before they deserve all they get, and I would feel the same even if they were a Pompey fan - and can only imagine how shamed and let down I would feel so I do feel sorry for Villa fans here... They are not the culprits here, that one muppet is and all Villa fans should not be tarnished with the same brush, and I do not think they will.

As also said before someway, be that via the CCTV or if need be the people that sat around this idiot, they will be found out and punished accordingly.

==========

On a more savoury note, and as I am talking about Harry Redknapp he has also backed Sol Campbell to once again win his place back in the England squad.

I think the vast majority of us would be lying if we said that we had not questioned his ability to maintain a status as a top performer. He has at times looked washed up, but the past few games he has been back to something like his very best showing that class is a permanent thing!

With Campbell, over the past few years it has seemed as though as much of his form is in his mind as anything else. When he is stimulated in his mind he seems to perform like the fantastic defender that he has been over the years - our participation in Europe this season and the ambition to establish ourselves as one of the best teams in the country appears to be giving him this motivation that he needs - along with the massages he gets and time off from training if needed - with him even able to play 3 games a week, something we thought just would not be possible.

Ok, getting back into the England again does not appear that likely but some of you might have noticed something that I said recently. Basically it went along the lines of 'as unlikely as it might seem, if Sol maintains his current form would another England recall be as unlikely as it sounded?'

We just have to look at the likes of, and I mean no disrespect to them, Matthew Upson, Joleon Lescott and Wes Brown - all players that could, and in most instances have been used as a central defenders in the absence of John Terry, or Rio Ferdinand, and ask would he have done any worse than them? If Fabio Capello is not looking at the likes of Jonathan Woodgate, but is these fellas then with the amount of time he will spend watching, or having watched our other England stars you never know...

I for one would be glad if Sol is not called up. Call me selfish, but he needs his rest. If he played on a Thursday night nationally, came back Friday, would be be up for it on Saturday? I don't think so.
Gandor
As I posted in the last article. Deduct 15 points from Villa unless the fan comes forward or is shopped by someone around him. This kind of thing HAS to be stopped. It's cowardly and pathetic!

As for Sol getting back into the England squad. No thanks. We have enough decent fullbacks there at the moment and Sol needs his rest.
sneakay
I do not expect the manager of our club to use language of that nature. His rant coupled with his wording makes him a hypocrite.
007
007. It's a man's game in a man's world using man's language. This is not the 1930s old boy. Sometimes in the right circumstances a few colourful words are not out of place.
storagematt
Dont agree storagematt, a real man does not need to use language like that. In fact nobody needs to use such words to emphasise a point. I doubt if Gandor and others would accept its a mans world, language and game.
007
I don't think HR's language implies violence or threats; just anger and humour. It seems like a completely normal reaction to me. There are no children present, he's not screaming in the journo's face. It is a little hypocritical but he's not perfect and I wouldn't want him to be. Look at what Fergie, Wenger, Mourhino say and tell me they don't contradict themselves. Nice to see an immediate reaction from Villa, but they should still be fined.
Pompeyscum
What happened at Villa was worse than disgraceful, Harry was quite rightly angry about what happened and the reception he received from that particular section of the Villa crowd. Why stewards were not in place because of the abuse goodnesss only knows, then again if it is not telling you to sit down what good are they anyway. Harry should be angry and has every right to rant at everyone about this disgusting incident.
Owenspompey
What has 'arry done that is so bad to the Villa fans? Why did they turn on him last year? Don't understand their dislike for him at-all.
pompey4me
Which one of the Villa fans was The Fear Rug?
pompey4me
Bald and beautiful one with the grey top on, they started with my handsombe face and came back to me 3 times, sods forgot the name graphic and Vital Football mention though... they did apologise! Great looking and very wise guy am I not? What do you mean no? Very hurtful! :o)
The Fear
Not sure the abuse was that much but the coin throwing was just sick. NO excuse. Should be on sky sports news later, think it reflects the anger most Villa fans feel for this numpty. As for 'Arry, last year the bungs programme or his arrest or whatever whatever whatever had just happened so the fans sang about it. That would have happened at any ground, you know what ALL us fans are like. He would have done well to ignore it but reacted and again, like ALL fans, you know what some are like, once they know they can get a rise out of someone, they will do it more.

Seems a bit strange some of these managers talking about the language and that there were kids about as Harry's language was just as bad 'you are a ******** disgrace' etc.

Again, NO place for coin throwing, just pathetic, but for Harry to say this is the only place he gets this sort of abuse can't be right. What were you guys saying when he went to the Saints and what do they say of his return to Pompey? Must admit though, I don't like the contorted faces of hatred at games, as Rug will attest, I'm not exactly quiet at games but I like the banter, took the St Michael out of those stupid orange boots of Utaka (?) on Saturday whilst holding one of my red trainers up in the air taking the michael out of myself!

Shame this has all blown up though, hopefully it will die back down as we've never had bad feelings between the clubs before as far as I can remember.
The Fear
it's a shame it's all blown up. Whover through the coin was a****, and I think everyone knows that. I think Harry may have been trying to become a bit of a hero saying the shot was meant for him - how could he possibly know that?
pompeycarpet
as for "sol for england" - I think his lack of pace would be exploitd to much, and he just isn't fit enough for it! maybe though, he could come in as an experianced player to help in the dressing room a la david beckham (who I assume isnt in there for his footballing prowess...)
pompeycarpet
Oh, the bald and beautifull one....The Fear is our leader!!
