Harry Redknapp, as usual, had plenty to say after our hard fought - yet well deserved - point at Villa Park yesterday, telling sky sports: 'I thought Sol Campbell was terrific at the back along with Sylvain . Pamarot came in and also did a good job for us.
'It was a good all-round team performance and a good away performance. I looked at the stats way into the second half and they still hadn't had a shot on goal.
'For an away team it's a difficult place to come, they're a good team.'
Our best chances came within seconds of each other in the 1st half, firstly Armand Traore saw his effort come back off the post then with the follow up with a chance that he would probably score 9 times out of 10 Jermain Defoe put his effort over the bar: 'Armand Traore had a good shot but it came back under the keeper, off the post, and Defoe volleyed his chance over. On another day he may have scored it.'
As for the sending off of Sean Davis he had no qualms with this whatsoever - and to be fair as innocuous as the 2nd booking might have been it was a booking and that meant that he had to go: 'I suppose Sean had to go, he already had a booking. It's nothing malicious but he did pull him back and it was a second yellow card unfortunately, so he had to go.'
Some t****r in the crowd felt the need to throw a coin, aimed at Redknapp or its eventual victim Phil Sharp - the linesman, I do not know but either way this kind of mindless and needless behaviour is not wanted and has no place in football and the fool involved deserves everything that they get. With the CCTV at Villa Park, not to mention people that would have been sitting next to the culprit you would hope they get what they deserve - and Villa have said they will receive a lifetime ban. Villa will not be punished, merely the perpetrator - and that is the way it should be!
Redknapp's obvious, and fair, disgust could not be hidden on this matter: 'some moron threw an object at him. Someone must have seen who did it and hopefully they'll get him on the cameras.
'We don't need people like that at football grounds, get them out and ban them for life. That's what we should do with behaviour like that.'
All in all, despite the unsavoury moment and the sending off it was a very good day at the office for us. I did not think we would see a draw, in fact I was convinced that we would see a winner by the odd goal either way, but I am more than happy with the 0-0 draw and my thinking is a point apiece was probably the fairest result.
