Ben Sahar is available again...
...but when, if ever, will he play for Pompey?
The little that I saw of Ben Sahar in pre-season impressed me, and after that I was looking forward to seeing him get some games under his belt for Pompey this season - so far this has not been the case, mainly due to injury.
He picked up a nasty cut on his knee when on international duty with Israel back along and that kept him out for a while, but then we heard nothing about him! We still have not really...
Had it not been for a small snippet I noticed in The News I would still have been none the wiser that the Israeli teenager is actually fit again - and he must be as he came on as a sub in their world cup qualifier at the weekend.
The fella is on loan with Pompey from Chelski until the end of the year, and whilst with Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch around I am not expecting him to be a starter much, if at all, I would now hope to see him at least back on the bench - ideally starting with the game at Villa this weekend.
Sahar appears to have a lot of talent and ability, so lets start to see this - the striker is fit so there should be no reason for him not to be back in our match day squad of 18. What a waste of a loan he will be if we do not at least give him a chance, which if fit there is no reason why we should not...
Speaking of the game against Villa, with Lassana Diarra and Richard Hughes both rated as 'doubtful' - although I suspect they will be fit, the news that Sean Davis has picked up a slight back problem is quite alarming!
PLAY UP POMPEY!
