Nugent's latest setback/Injury rules out Diarra

Nugent's latest setback/Injury rules out Diarra

Dave Nugent's Pompey career seems to go from bad to worse really, as the fella does not seem to get many breaks does he - apart from the injury enforced ones!

The striker has again been forced to go under the knife as he looks to put his troublesome groin problem behind him, which had already seen surgery performed in January. This latest setback will keep him out for a couple of months.

Harry Redknapp told The News: 'David's had a hernia operation which is disappointing for the lad, it really is. He hasn't played since the start of the season.

'The problem's come up again so he had to go to London for an operation. Let's hope it works this time.

'It's disappointing. We'll just have to see how it goes.'

Hopefully this latest attempt at rectifying the problem can be a success and he can finally start pressuring for a 1st team spot again and finally show what he can do. Ok, the chances of him being that success with Pompey that we would want appear to be fading all the time, but if he can get himself fully fit you can never say never...

Whatever though, and whatever peoples thoughts are of the fella, one thing that he cannot help at all is being injured - so this cannot be held against him!

==========

Another Pompey player currently suffering with an injury is one that is slightly more important to our 1st team plans at the moment - Lassana Diarra.

Suspension saw him miss our win over Stoke at the weekend, but a troublesome knee problem probably would have seen him miss the game anyway. Now this knee problem has forced him to withdraw from the French squad for their world cup qualifiers.

Diarra will remain with the French medical team to be assessed during the international break before returning to Pompey where we will take over. The seriousness of the injury, and if he will be fit to face Villa a week Saturday, is not yet known - but stay tuned as we will keep you updated.

As ever, thoughts on all please guys...

Diarra is one we can't loose for too long but rather have him back ready then bring him back too early. Nugent we need to have him put down & claim the insurance money. No doubt he will be fit for the January sales!!!

Shame about Lassana as we really need him in the middle. As for Nugent, not sure we will see him in a Pompey Shirt again before he moves in January.

At least if Diarra can't play for France he can't pick up anymore injuries. If he can be fit for the next league game then i think it could be a blessing in disguise. Really feel for Nugent he just doesn't seem to get any good luck.

no offence to Diarra, but I hope he isn't fit for the Villa game as he is the sort who can make the difference.....! Looking forward to the match, could go either way, shame about this pesky international break!

Diarra will be back, we will need him at Villa Park, will Niko be back? I feel that Nugent has been a really poor investment, and we should ship him out as soon as he is in some sort of shape to go, this is what happens when you delay the original operation, if he had been honest then, the problem could have been rectified, remember Darren Anderton had issues with his hernia/groin, he is playing more regularly now, than when he was in his prime.

I was hoping Diarra would miss the French games as he hes been suffering lately and needs a break. Let's hope Lassie comes back strong for Villa and the games ahead - sorry Fear but he is vital to us.

the fear - I have no objections to the internatuonal break... it'c good fun mocking arsenal, man u, and liverpool fans that we have more players in the squad than them, it's good to give some of our players a rest, and generally... it's all quite nice.

Krancjar was said to be back this month, but don't think he's in training yet originally it was late November, let's hope it's sooner rather than later. No chance for the Villa game I would have thought.

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
