Am I Dreaming? Two Goals!

Am I Dreaming? Two Goals!

A wonder goal from Mendes in the last few seconds meant that Portsmouth won for the first time in 2006. Who needs strikers we've got Mendes!?!

There was a very subdued atmosphere when I walked into my section at Fratton Park. This was not helped when we saw another glorious goal scoring opportunity missed by Gary O'Neil after good work from Lua Lua.

The Portsmouth Players were out of the tunnel first and rearing to go. We looked good at the start of the first half but as always I was thinking where are the goals going to come from?

The ball went out for a corner and out came Toddy from the dugout to warm up. He got a fantastic cheer and ten seconds later the stadium erupted as Mendes boomed a thirty yarder into the bottom hand corner.

I know it is easy to say now but I thought that we would concede from a corner today. We did. The corner came in and was flicked on not once but twice, with the third touch hitting the net. I had a fantastic view and the player that scored was slightly offside, however would have been harsh to call that. It would not however have been harsh to call the player in front of the goalkeeper offside. Is the linesman telling me that a player standing in front of the goalkeeper is not interfering with play?

In the dying seconds Lua Lua wins a corner, unfortunately for my section quite a lot of people had left. In came the cross and out went the cross. Mendes won the 50/50 in the middle and fired what can only be described as a rocket into the roof of the net.

This isn't over yet. Please say this isn't a dream!

Both Goals were worthy of the 3 points alone. Good performance compared to recent matches. Players started to beleive in this team, as it was nice to see Harry applaud the fans as well. We have seen that for a few years

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
