PORTUGUESE RAILWAYS - SUBURBAN SPECIAL SERVICE - UEFA CUP: V. S. C. DE GUIMARÃES x PORTSMOUTH F. C.

INTRODUCTION
Portuguese Railways (CP), in articulation with Vitória Sport Clube de Guimarães and Portsmouth Football Club, have organized a special operation for the UEFA Cup first round, second leg tie, which will take place in the Dom Afonso Henriques Stadium, in Guimarães, at 9h35pm.

To go to Guimarães from Oporto, suburban train is the best option, because the local station is located within 20 minutes walk of the Guimarães stadium, and also because Portuguese Railways will have available more places in regular trains and will operate a special train between Guimarães and Oporto after the end of the game.

TRAIN SERVICES
CP recommends the next train services:

2nd of October ( Porto > Guimarães):

  • Departure from Porto S. Bento station at 4h15pm, arriving in Guimarães at 5h33pm;
  • Departure from Porto S. Bento station at 5h15pm, arriving in Guimarães at 6h33pm;
  • Departure from Porto S. Bento station at 6h15pm, arriving in Guimarães at 7h33pm;
  • Departure from Porto S. Bento station at 7h15pm, arriving in Guimarães at 8h33pm;

    3rd of October (Guimarães > Porto ) - Special Train:
  • Departure from Guimarães at 0h45am arriving at Porto S. Bento station at 1H55am;

    These trains stop also at Porto Campanhã station, five minutes from Porto S. Bento station.

    OTHER USEFUL INFORMATION
    For higher comfort, Clients should purchase return tickets and board in advance, in a way to arrive early to the stadium and return easily.

    A return suburban ticket between Oporto and Guimarães cost only 4,30€, and one way only ticket cost 2,15€. Tickets can be bought in the day of the match, at ticket offices and automatic selling machines.

    For further information, please consult the Portuguese Railways WebPage www.cp.pt, or call 808 208 208 (local calls) or +351 213 185 990 (calls from outside Portugal ).

    So, why should YOU join the FSF?

    Whether you realise it or not, the FSF are fighting your corner all of the time.

    The debacle that was the Champions' League Final in Athens - the FSF were there and have collected statements and presented a report to UEFA. If we reach the final of this tournament in Turkey we will be better treated there because of the FSF.

    Safe standing issues, ticket allocations, prices, kick-off times, the list is endless. We're working on all of them.

    There are two Pompey die-hards on the FSF National Council and two more that regularly work on the England Fans' Embassies.

    We need YOU in the FSF today. You can sign up on line at www.fsf.org.uk for just £14 a year. Your membership helps us to help you. Your voice counts. Go on, you know it makes sense!

    More useful information. Although if game went to Extra time and penalties then with fans kept in the ground for 15 minutes and a 20 minute walk, 00h45m could be tight. Matt, some left last night on the cross channel ferries!!

    We fly out early Thursday as well Storagematt - from Bournemouth. Until then I'm going to keep listening to the football hours on the Quay - they are going to let us know the best bars in Porto to go in, as they're out there already. (Good work if you can get it!)

    No More Quarter Final Replays For Pompey

    Should Portsmouth progress through to an FA Cup quarter final from the 2016/17 season onwards, the game will no longer be subject to a replay.

    Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

    Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

    It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

    Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.
