Training complex setback...

To most it probably will not come as a surprise, but our proposed training complex has hit a setback... Work was scheduled to get underway before the end of the month, but there will now be a delay!

Peter Storrie has told The News that 'administrative hold-ups' have caused the delay but 'hopes' work will begin within a month: 'we still have a lot of paperwork to get through and are still waiting for environmental reports and things like that which take a lot of time.

'These things just take longer than you expect but we hope to get everything sorted out and start quite quickly - within a month hopefully, so the delay shouldn't cause a problem at all.'

Why does it not surprise me that this will not go smoothly...

Gosport Borough Council approved our planning application, and quite unanimously as well, with Council leader Dave Smith welcoming our training complex, he also says that the delays are 'nothing major': 'these hold-ups aren't a problem at all. They are free to move in whenever they want and start work.

'We are looking forward to work on the complex starting and can't wait to welcome the club, as the facilities are great news for Gosport.'

Our lack of finances seems to tie in with this news nicely - coincidence or something more?

If something more - not that I am saying it is - in the modern financial climate it would not be a surprise, but a smoke and mirrors approach would be taken I would suspect... Maybe it is nothing more than is claimed, only Pompey really know - but what most of us do know is things are rarely smooth where Pompey are concerned!

Rug, there's also the rumours about the club being up for sale, ownership etc etc. All could be true and would therefore could be contributing to this story.

Yep, no surprise, the club has stalled & the bumpy ride is beginning! Hard not to be cynical & really hope to be proved wrong.

Maybe this is the reason we are playing so badly!! OK i am clutching at straws, we dont train together do we? You would not think so after the last few games.

There's always delays and hold ups. I think the Sacha selling up story is most likely not true - but there's that nagging doubt, we did seem to go suddenly from 'bringing in 3 star names' and signing Crouch to 'we have to sell to balance the books'. Perhaps the credit crunch has hit Sacha? Or perhaps I'm letting my imagination run away with me. Hope so.

Looks like the departed frattonaussie was not far from the truth after all.

The journo in question states that "Keith Harris" is the man looking for buyers for both Pompey and Newcastle, I suppose Orville will broker the deal?

I reckon "the credit crunch" is going to be a convenient excuse rolled out a lot in the coming months when developments don't go to plan...

I'm quite certain Frattonaussie had it right. By the way, where has he gone?
