Scoring a couple of goals against middlesbroughs makes you a great striker doesn't it - yeah right - i didn't see him in Zagreb with me scoring goals!

no - scorring 12 goals in 18 games for pompey makes him a great striker. Being the current top scorer in the premiership - despite us having played half our games against top 4 sides, who dont normally conceed - makes him a great striker. maybe he didnt score in zagreb becuase he wasnt on the pitch...

*note* not being on the pitch doesnt mean you arnt a good player. Capello won't play both gerard and lampard together, although they are both good players, becuase they dont play well together.

Well said Carps... and surely scoring a free-kick on your debut doesn't make a great premiership player either.. £34 million .. I wonder if he's worth it .. although it probably won't matter if he's not they'll just buy another one.. It the kids I feel sorry for .. they'll never be able to play for their own club... No dreaming of walking out at COM stadium for them.. they'll have more chance if they support Manx

i think that kaboul will come in tbh even tho this preview thinks he will might drop out, which he has anyway in the last game and a half... i reckon he will be in for sol so he can have a rest, or if we go back to the 3-5-2, which wouldnt surprise me he will be in alongside him and distin, altho he might be tempted to rest sol as it might be 1 game to many and even bring in hermann?

I think we will go back to 3-5-2 for this game, and give GJ a rest, and bring in Lauren (if he's fit!), and probably give belhadj a rest too. I wouldnt be surprised if sol was given the game off, however I think it is more likely he will miss the game on wednesday - along with diara and traore (or belhadg... depending on who he rests tommorow). Basicly, I think we will see a fair amount of rotation, and then even more on wednesday - otherwhise our players will not last against guimers in 2 weeks time!

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
