The Right Results Says Pompey v Boro DRAW

PORTSMOUTH v MIDDLESBROUGH - The young one

Saturday 13 September 2008

In only his second top-flight game, Stuart Attwell - the Premier League`s youngest-ever referee - has entered the annals of the Right Result. With the game delicately poised at 1-1 in the second-half, the 25 year-old from Nuneaton denied Middlesbrough a penalty when Portsmouth debutant Nadir Belhadj clearly impended Boro's Stewart Downing inside the box.

The Right Result is a 2-2 draw.

the right result obviousy only watches match of the day, as defe was clearly brought down 5 minutes before his first goal. so if you're gonna do research, do it properly. and obviously "right result" doesn't take possesion, shots on target, luck into account? in no way should that game have been a draw!

The ref was shocking. How about mentioning the tiny head butt that Mido di on Johnno. Although it was not hard it should have been a straight red.

what about the penalties that defoe and johnson should have had? defoe is one ive seen given - johnson, even tho he got booked - looked a penalty from where i was sat... that is forgetting the numerous other chances we had!
2-1 was a result i can accept, but 3 or even 4-1 wouldnt have been that unfair would it?

Even if they had a penalty who said its a goal James would have made his first & only save of the game, & thats if they could have hit the target. who are these bunch of idiots the same people who wrote the sutana match report.

Forgive me for not getting into the spirit of this but isn't this a complete waste of time...? Gordon Bennett!.. and I'm not sure delicately poised is the right way to describe virtually the only time they got into the box in the second half.

Stuart Attwell - he was more like Winifred Attwell!! Sorry lads and lassies not many will remember her. He made a lot of bad decisions and taking one and coming to the right result is crazy.

I cannot believe that a penalty gives the right to claim a goal. I remember dreaming that Sunderland would get a penalty against Liverpool when I was a VIP co-sponsoring patron with my Sunderland mate at the Stadium of Light. There were mixed emotions - they did get a penalty, missed it and still went on to win 2-1. Sadly for the Black cats in December it was the last win of the season and they got relegated. I went with Mike to a VIP game at St Marys and the Sunderland fans were chanting 'Play Up Pompey' to obviously antagonise the home crowd.

Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.

Winning over the fans

Cook feels he still has to 'win over a proportion' of the fans at Pompey?

Tubbs surprised...in a way he has a point

5-goals in a combined total of 8-matches isn't a bad return is it so having made his move to Eastleigh this week I get Tubbs' point at his surprise Cook wasn't selecting him.

Pompey Predictions League - update no.28
