'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pompey awarded the performance of the week

It was not just those connected to Pompey that were impressed by our 3-0 win over Everton the weekend before last, this was also acknowledged by the likes of Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry who awarded us the F&C Investments performance of the week.

Harry Redknapp was pleased to receive this award with him telling the Pompey Site: 'it was a great performance. Not many teams will go to Goodison Park and win this season.

'We changed the formation and it worked. You can work on changes in training but there`s no guarantee that it will work in a match situation.

'The wing-back system suits the players that I've got here. Sol is happier playing in the middle of three at the back and Glen and Armand were terrific along the flanks. Both have great pace and are excellent going forward.

'All the team played well. David James was again outstanding and made some great saves, including the penalty which was crucial at that time.

'Crouch and Defoe were excellent and that`s the best they've played for us. They showed what a threat they can be.'

An engraved crystal football has been presented to him and this presentation will be screened on Soccer Saturday on sky sports this weekend.

Nice one Harry and considering Wigan won 5-0 away from home on that weeekend ( a great result by any standards) this shows how well viewed Pompeys demolition of Everton actually was.

And a nice crystal ball to boot. A few more of those over the season please.

What? They will awards out for anything these days. I'm not knocking our performance as it was first class, but really. Next there wil be one for the player who had his boots tied with the best bows!
sneakay
My trhoughts exactly chix. Let's hope we can do it for the home fans against 'Boro. So many of our great games are away.
storagematt
Beat boro and suddenly we have a better start to the season than last year! We had 5 points after 5 games last season, and look where we finished off!
jbaker
if we cn beat boro, we will have had a great start to the season. if we win convincingly, all the better!
pompeycarpet
as for the award - goodison is as tough as old trafford to win at (wll, maybe) - so winning 3-0 there is a truly great achievment!
pompeycarpet
Bit of both from me. Firstly, an utterly superb performance, the best i've seen from us in an age. Secondly, I have to agree with Sneakay. I'm looking forward to getting my award for the blinding job I made of hanging the Hand printed French paper this week. Those Golden Paper hanging scissors will look lovely on my mantle piece.
