pfcTV to become a free service!

I do not know how many of you out there have been pfcTV members?

Well I am, or was - but this subscription is just about to run out for me, in fact it probably already has...

This was something I was going to renew, but to my pleasure I received this email yesterday telling me that this service is to become a free to use one - so I do not need to renew it after all!

Well, I think anyway?

Vital Pompey - pfctv

Dear Pompey Fan

PFCTV is pleased to announce that as of September 12th the service will become FREE!

The service is still available to you as a subscriber until October 1st so that you can view archive footage. After this date you will find all your Pompey coverage on www.portsmouthfc.co.uk.

Existing annual subscribers will receive a pro-rata refund and monthly re-occurring subscriptions will become in-activated as of September 30th. Within 28 days from the launch of the new free service you will receive an email from PayPal confirming that your refund has been issued or that your monthly subscription has been cancelled.

PFCTV would like to thank you for your loyalty to the service over the last season and hope you continue to enjoy the latest video coverage of Pompey on www.portsmouthfc.co.uk from 12th September.

Play Up Pompey!
PfcTV Service Team

I asked around a bit, and this service will become free - I am not quite what you will get for this and not sure how the radio coverage will go though to be honest?

With this subscription you received the radio coverage offered up by The Quay for all Pompey games, whether or not this free service will include this I do not know?

As much as I might not like this, unless we are on the box - or I was going - then pfcTV was the only place I could follow our away games, so I hope we can still get this as an option, but that 'might' be asking too much for nothing...

Forget PFCTV mate, use http://www.radiopaq.com/ and search for Quay Radio. Alternatively you could always dig out VFE on paltalk! Recommend radiopaq as you can listen to any amount of radio stations around the world, good luck :)

devon, i dont know about 'forgetting about pfctv' as this is - or was when you paid for it - top class...
out of interest is it devon as in the name 'devon' like the fella on nightrider or devon as in 'you live in devon?' if the live in devon whereabouts are you, and do you get to many pompey games?

Just tried radiopaq - despite the warning that I was missing a .dll file, it works fine - thanks for the link devon

With some of these services it is better financially to give them for free than spend large amounts of money advertising and then collecting the subscriptions. More advertising on screen and sponsorship no doubt.

I might try it in that case. At least I'll be able to see the video interviews now on the PFC website.

Strange .. I'm a subsciber and didn't get the email..umm.. as for radio coverage the away games can now just be just picked up on the net via Quay Radio.. there's no need to go anywhere else http://www.quayradio.com/pompey.. I used it for the friendly games and I've also compared it (on two computers) to PFCtv and it streams at the same quality and speed.. Quay radio should also give you the Pompey Hour between 6pm and 7pm each night although I've not tried it as it bed and bath time for the kids..

chix, thats interesting because if you are like me and dont live in pompey ( walton on thames) and due to work are often are trying to listen in france, spain or the far east ....stratford... it is often really difficult to get a good stream from quay directly, but pfctv very rarely fails. Sadly i am rarely home in time in any country for pompey hour so cant comment. I will definetly try radiopaq

Well from someone living in Cornwall i think this is fantastic news... I try to get to as many home games as possible over the season, but it doesn't arf hit the old pocket a bit. Really pleased cos it will keep me even more in touch..

To be honest if you search the web you can watch most of e Pompey games live after a little bit of effort. If anyone wants to know where togo then send me a PM as I know not to put the link on the site :)

I've always liked The Quay's coverage as well - I listen to it over internet radio. Be good to see some pictures thoough - does this mean that we can watch live matches that are televsied? I have Sky but not Setanta due to it being **** and over priced - be good to watch more games that I cant get to

Excellent news, sub has just run out, and can now save a few pennies for the away trip to Portugal.
