Cranie's loan length clarification

Deals with Pompey are never easy are they! The latest deal with 'strange' movements after the event, or words to 'clarify it' involves another loan dealing with Charlton, with the deals with them seemingly even more difficult...

Martin Cranie joined Charlton on loan on Monday night, in a deal believed to be for the season - wrong!

Pompey have revealed this loan, much like the one that has taken - or will take - Linvoy Primus, who played in a reserve game for them yesterday, will be for 3-months and not the season as had been said.

As I said at the time I think loaning Cranie out is not a bad thing, so long as he comes back! Loaning him out for 3-months is even better as this will give him some games between now and the New Year, then he can come back and hopefully challenge during the second half of the season?

Whilst I think the youngster will ultimately end up as a central defender if we carry on with our wing back play then again he could be ideally suited for this - which is why only loaning him out for 3-months is even better - as Glen Johnson will also need a break during the season and we do not really have anyone else that could play in a right wing back role as naturally as Cranie.

In theory this all sounds good, so lets see how it pans out...

You'd think Charlton would be getting a bit miffed if they thought they were getting MC for the season after the mix up with Linvoy!!!

nice to see us messing them around; still remember them stealing matt holland from under our noses

Stole HH from under our noses at the same time. As for Cranie any football will be good for him, haven't seen much of him but didn't look out of his depth in his debut against utd, have high hopes that he may be the one for the future that actully breaks into the team.

Having checked out the Charlton Official site they actually say Cranie signed till the end of 2008 so the reports of for the season were obviously missnterprtations by someone.

Lets hope he gets some games uder his belt then.
sneakay
once he has some games under his belt, I reckon he could get a run in the first team...
pompeycarpet
Let's hope he has a big belt

he'll do well. as long as he stays injury free he should get the experience that he needs to challenge for a place in our first team.
jbaker
games are what he needs, and he will get them with charlton.
