Pompey complete Belhadj loan signing

Pompey complete Belhadj loan signing

Pompey have completed the loan signing on Nadir Belhadj from Lens on loan.

The left back/left midfielder has signed on a season loan, with us having the option to buy should this loan be a success.

The 26-year-old has told the Pompey Site that he is 'delighted' to have joined us, and this is what he wanted as soon as he heard of an interest from Harry Redknapp: 'I'm delighted to be at Pompey because it's a very good club with great players.

'I like the English people and I like English football, so this is an excellent opportunity for me.

'The club have chased me for a while now and when I heard that they wanted me, there was only one place I wanted to come. I wanted to come to Portsmouth.

'Harry Redknapp is a great manager and with the players we have at the club, I think we can do really well this season.

'I will do my very best to help us succeed.'

The Algerian international has plenty or pace, and plenty of skill so like Armand Traore is ideally suited to a wing back role in our newly found 3-5-2 formation: 'I like the system that the side played against Everton at the weekend. It suits me because I have a lot of pace and I like to run a lot.'

He will now report for international duty, which he will hopefully come through ok - along with our other international stars - before returning to Fratton, where he could kick off his Pompey career against Boro in a couple of weeks time.

A more experienced defender than Arnand too. Bearing in mind the reports HR had on him this makes great sense. Nugent to Wigan anyone?

he sounds good - and that means that we have 2 (or 3...hreiderson does like to get forward a lot) that can play in that position on the left! suddenly the squad looks like it's coming together

Harry has a plan so cunning that you put a tail on it and call it a weasel. Lots of you guys have been saying we should play 3-5-2 and at last you're being proven right. It does seem to give us so much more opportunity to utilise the capabilities of a squad that, at one stage, looked a a little thin on the ground.

...although the midfield still could be a little thin o the ground. Bring on Appiah! (hopefully)

now we have to keep the momentum up and get a few more points on the board. and now we have back-up in most positions, if not all. thats what you need to survive in europe!!!

Watched a video of him a few hours ago, and he ran rings around the Brazilian National Team a while back (Out ran Ronaldinho, which is a good thing, before he got fat(ish)), looks like he could be a quality loan signing for us. Certainly looks like he could feed Defoe & Crouch the kind of deliveries they need to bang them in.

loan moves are pretty much risk-free, lets just hope he gets a fair run out, unlike aubey.
