Paul Merson can only be described as a Pompey legend. Unfortunately he had some problems but on the pitch he had none.

He was probably the most influential player in Portsmouth's promotion season as most goals on my season DVD were created by him.

I would love to see Harry bring in Merson as a coach! I speak on behalf of all Portsmouth fans when I say, “thanks Merson.”

He was a legend in the short time we had him. Only wish he gets involved somewhere again in football.

Arsenal fan here... Paul Merson will always be remembered fondly by the fans of every club he played for. Hard working, humourous and a joy to watch. Good luck in whatever you do Merse!

I think he will become a Mersonary and take employment for whoever needs him. Defintely would be a short term success.

I think he wants to get back into football management again. I don't get the impression that he's very good at it, but he appears to want to do it!

Duo sign professional Pompey deals

Will Jez Bedford and Theo Widdrington be the future Pompey midfield? We'll certainly hope so, clearly the Blues do too or they wouldn't have signed professional deals at Fratton Park.

Nathan Thompson - A Swindon perspective

Prior to his departure for Wigan, Paul Cook wanted Nathan Thompson at Pompey. Interest was retained by Kenny Jackett, who completed his free transfer signing from Swindon last week.
