Diarra to go? Please say it aint so...

As we are so 'strapped for cash' today's People has an 'exclusive' which is 'claiming' that we will be forced into selling Lassana Diarra to Spurs for £12m tomorrow, unless we can offload some on our fringe players instead... Although Dave Nugent is 'said' to be close to completing a move to West Brom?

How true this is I could not say, but I hope and pray this is just speculation and nothing more - although if true we can forget any hopes we might have had of seeing us move further forward than we have and should instead brace ourselves for more departures in the future?

Again 'if' there is any truth in this whatsoever then we can forget about signing anyone else before midnight tomorrow, even on a free, and should be more concerned about others that might go...

However all we can now do is sit tight and wait and see.

My thoughts above are the worst case scenario but lets not overact or get carried away and start shouting and screaming about this, that and the other as no one, unless you are part of Portsmouth Football Club, which I doubt, knows how true - if at all true this actually is!

With all this said, if we had to keep selling 'top player', after player, after player why would you have gone out and purchased Peter Crouch for a club record earlier this summer? We would have known then that we could not afford him, so I am hoping that the Diarra 'rumours' are noting more than that, and just typical red top rubbish...

Well, we expect Diarra to go at some stage but certainly not yet & not to the spuds. Yes, if it was to Man Utd to replace Scholes or a Spanish giant but the spuds!!!!

Would be a bridge too far if he goes - maybe even for Harry also. Diarra WILL go (eventually), we know that, but to go now would rip the engine out of our team. After Muntari & Mendes have gone, what midfield would we have left?? Standing still after the Cup win is fair enough if times are hard (etc) - but going backwards would be very hard to take. I think Crouch must've been bought before we had the money problems (or realised the extent of them).

'if' the rpeorts are true tho matt we dont have much say in the matter and he will go to spurs...
i said this somewhere else:
'again 'if' this is true then we are up ***** creek - but i cannot keep coming back to the thoughts 'if we knew we we that broke then why would we have gone out and signed peter crouch?' we would have to sell him anyway sometime soon if that is the case as if we lose diarra, others will follow as the best players will not want ot play for a team that isnt going to be challenging the top 6, maybe even pushing on for the top 4, each season are they...
red top rubbish...hopefully!'

agree scott mc, that 'if' true i think this would see HR walk away, and tbh i wouldnt blame him as we would gradually be stripping away all our most valuable assets, assets which got us to where we have gotten - without them the only way we will go is back down the table...
but dramatic money problems, like the ones it is claimed we have, do not just spring up overnight do they...we would have surely known things were going belly up before we signed crouchy?
that is why im not so sure i believe this, we will soon find out the truth tho wont we...

the main thing tho, as i said above is that 'we dont beleive this just because the papers say so' - how much rubbish do they come out with!

Most of what they report is rubbish - just occasionally they get it right - we can't let any more go especially from midfield and especially Diarra. Yes we all know Diarra will leave before too long, but only to a truly top club. So I think its rubbish, but roll on Tuesday morning so we can all have a big sigh of relief.

I cant see it happening - I simply can't imagine we would sell him now - how many midfielders would we have left then?!

It just wouldn't make sense. Surely if we were that cahs strapped we would have said no to Kaboul and made do with what we had. T sell the whole of the Cup Final midfield (Diarra, Muntari, Mendes) would be sheer madness! I don't believe Sacha would risk losing Harry or the fans over this one...

i know everythings possible in football, but my initial reaction is...what a load of old pants!!!!!! this would make 1000% no sence at all! so, the people say we need to get rid of a couple of fringe players, so get back about 3 - 4 mil then?...or we have to sell arguably our most influential player for 11 mil. So just to get this straight, a week & a half ago we bought Thomas for 1 mil so we could get Traore knowing full well that we would proberbly have to sell Diarra????????????....ok we needed these wide players but at the cost of one of the best players in the prem/maybe even world???? dont make me laugh my ugly face off!!!!

I,m not going to over overact or get carried away and start shouting and screaming about this, that and the other and I know it's all red-top nonense and I agree with the comments of PDM and Carpet... BUT.. Should we Lose Diarra because the like of Nugent, (D) Traore, Utaka et al don't fancy a move and would rather cuddle up to their cozy salaries then I ain't gonna be happy... The best result for tomorrow is to see the back of all those who haven't got the club at heart....

Ah, tis the season for crazy transfer rumours, to be sure.... Having lost Muntari it would be madness to let him go to to Spurs.

I can't help thinking that if this situation carries on then Harry will go back to West Ham. They have money but buy some rubbish - Harry will improve that without a doubt. Would be nice to hear something (truthful) from Sasha or Storrie, wouldn't ti?

Wouldn't mind if 'Dairra' left, but if Diarra left, that would be a different story. That paper talks rubbish, so hpefully it's 900% un-true.

no surprises, but ive been doing some 'asking around' and this move is highly, highly unlikely to happen - if it did then the thought is HR would follow!

I wouldn't blame 'arry for walking if this did happen. Let's hope it is just Tabloid Trash. Muntari & Pedro were hard enough to see go, Diarra would just be the tipe of the iceberg.

Why would we risk 12 million and play someone we knew we were looking to sell. Diarra isn't going anywhere just yet and definetly not to Spuds! However no doubt any chance of me doing any work tomorrow is slim as i'll be glued to sky sports news / BBC sport!

If it's true then i shall be seriously considering transfering myself to go and watch the Hawks. I'm Pompey through and through but the demolition of our midfield would be a bitter pill to swallow.

If we were 'skint' why would we be linked with a £60k a week deal for Motta? Surely that deal would have been 'thanks, but no thanks' from Storrie & Harry, and not a 'let's sign him'. Fabricated load of rubbish, a slow news day.

we are skint, but not skint enough to let diarra go - he isnt going anywhere just yet and as Pompey Bluto, my cousin, says without doubt not to spurs...i will keep you updated with any 'possible' updates tho mate - altho i doubt i will get any work done either!
