League cup - Pompey face Chelski!

If we are to carry on our hopes of league cup glory this season we have the simple matter of disposing of Chelski in round 3... at least we play them at Fratton!

Due to our - and Chelski's - involvement in European competition this season both sides got a bye into the 3rd round, but it will be 3rd round and out for one of us - as it will plenty of premier league sides as there are a fair few all premier league ties...

Of course Chelski is not a game we would have wanted, but if we want this enough we can overcome them and march on into round 4, and with that increase our chances of another return to Wembley, our second home.

At least we have been drawn at home, and in a one off cup-tie hopefully we will approach it as such and give it a bloody good go!

PLAY UP POMPEY!

it's like "friends reunited" - first we play Man U an obscene number of times, now we will get to play chelsea... whats the betting we get them in the FA cup too?

I think we were both hoping for an easier tie :-)

Chelsea will give this scant attention, especially so early on. I reckon that, if we play our best side, we'll progress to round 4

Spot on UKTony Chelsea aren't the least bit interested in this comp. but quite frankly neither am I. The last thing Pompey want on top of Europe and The Premiership/FA Cup defence is not a long drawn out Carling Cup campaign.

Scant attention? .. I'm not sure ..they reached the final last year and don't forget the Carling Cup in only six wins away from Europe for next year .. I reckon Harry will take this seriously...

Somebody up there really doesn't want us to have an easy season.

It bugs me that we haven't beaten Chelski since we got promoted, maybe this is the time. I think we should go for the Carling -its a Wembley final with UEFA cup qualification, and its highly unlikely we'll win the FA cup 2 years on the trot! Nice as that would be.

They won't beat Rotherham, they are unbeaten. The Scum couldn't even turn out the Blackpool lights in a power failure !

Look at it this way: It's a chance for us to get sweet revenge on them for the 4-0 thrashing we got. That's the main positive i am taking with me on that day. (shame we didn't get the scum, i miss the old Southcoast Derby). Bring on Chelski (again!)

I'm pondering going to this, esp at only £20 a ticket, and not linked to any other games, but its also in the middle of the UEFA cup matches, so it might be a bit much. Beginning to change my mind and think that the League and the UEFA are more important and Arry should give the reserves a run out for this one.

A tough draw but who knows.

It's only £20 a ticket? Tempting, even it might only be Reserves. I hope they underestimate us this time round & we sneak a win.
