A Toffee's point of view

A Toffee's point of view

Early days I know, but are you happy with how your season is going so far?
So-so. The Blackburn game was a disaster, but the win at West Brom has increased morale and optimism.

Some have said that Moyes could be under pressure this season, with some even tipping him to be the first to go! What do you make of this?
Alan Curbishley will be the first to go in my opinion. Moyes has a job for life here and the only way he would leave is if he had enough and moved to an even bigger outfit where he could spend more.

Who do you think has been your best summer signing and why?
Jacobsen! He's the only one so far!

Could you have done with more arrivals - if so in which areas and maybe even who?
Midfield, in the centre, there isn't enough bite and physical presence there.

What are you expectations, or hopes for this season?
Mid-table given the lack of investment in the squad up to now.

What about Pompey, what do you think we should expect or hope for?
Top 10, cup run, maybe outside shot at top 6. It's a great, improving club heading in the right direction.

Who is the real danger man that Pompey need to watch?
Yakubu, although you will know all about him. Presents the biggest goal threat for sure.

If you could take any Pompey player and put him in your squad who would it be and why?
It would have been Muntari but you sold him to Inter! Probably Niko Kranjcar.

Is there anyone that you would like to sent Pompey's way?
Hmm, there's no one particularly awful, just a balanced side that has its bad days at times.

Go on, who's going to win?
1-1. Can't see a home win given the weakness in the middle of the park.

Never an easy match, no matter where the venue. On current form I'll take a draw but very much, as always hoping we can pinch a win.

fancy we might just be able to nick this one - hope so anyway!
29/08/2008 11:20:00
I am personally hoping that we can just score in this game. Sloppy defending last year cost us the game before it had even started, so lets hope for better this time.
29/08/2008 11:43:00
I'm uncharacteristically pessmistic about the game tomorrow. I'll be delighted if we score. Seems Defoe is ill, so I reckon the 4-5-1 formation that did us so well away last season, this time with Crouchie up front, of course. Just hope our depleted midfield can start to get the ball to him and give him a chance to do what he does best.

Defoe has now recovered now Tracy, but Thomas has a bad back
29/08/2008 19:37:00
Hi Guys, have you managed to answer the questions Joe (theshamen) sent you? Ideally i would have liked to have it up today but apparently none of you have replied?!
29/08/2008 20:43:00
we did reply mate, and said it would be done as soon as - which it now is...
30/08/2008 09:45:00
i will happily take a point today as we need something to gain some sort of foothold going into the international break - poxy international breaks! - but think we can get all 3, as everton are also in a similar position to us at the moment,
30/08/2008 09:46:00
also, dont forget 'pompey live' today - we will chat about the game, and other things, as it goes on... i will look to get the teams up for around 2.30, 2.45ish so join in!

Good news that Jermain is better. Pity about Thomas' bad back, I thought he looked promising Monday night.

Cook's already said the loan Tollitt is undertaking with Tranmere doesn't mean an end to his Pompey career as this isn't a forerunner to a Blues exit in the New Year.
