Primus deal called off/Ljungberg rumours

The News is reporting this morning that Linvoy Primus' loan move to Charlton has been called off!

For several days reports all over t'internet - including officially with Charlton - have been saying his loan move was a season long one, yet Pompey said nothing...

Finally after the Manyoo game on Monday Harry Redknapp said that the loan was only until the end of the year, not the end of the season and he was not having it any other way.

Still nothing official has been said throughout the whole ordeal, which I find disappointing but I am pleased that we will not allow him to leave for the season. A short term loan until Christmas would be ideal though.

The deal might be resurrected, but at the moment Linvoy is not going anywhere. Although like I say I do honestly think it would be in everyone's best interests for this as he needs 1st team football at the moment so a short term loan seems the obvious solution.

==========

Also, reports in today's Mirror are saying that we are considering making a move for free agent Freddie Ljungberg...

A few years ago I would have been delighted by such a move, but I would hope we are not, and most probably doubt, we would be interested now - you do not have a £6m contract paid up for no reason do you, and this is what recently happened with him at West Ham!

Ok, lets look at it this way if we could get him in on a pay as you play basis then we would have nothing to lose, but I could not see him being open to this so I would suggest we steer clear of the Swede to be honest.

Reports also say that Villa, Everton and Blackburn want him, they are welcome to him if you ask me...

Thoughts on all as always please guys!

Let's hope the Linvoy "non move" is a good one; I'd hate to see the guy not be able to play regular football because of an internal c*ck up somewhere along the line

Linvoy does need to get some games under his belt but i would imagine we would want a short term for the loan i.e. have him back when the European games kick off, even if just for cover...

Freddie the Fag is very injury prone & damned expensive. Can't see this happening. As for Linvoy, I hope 4 his sake he knows what's going on?

not sure about Freddie, strange one with his contract at west ham, i dont think the guy had an attitude problem so it must have been purely down to fitness... id say at best give him a contract until the end of the season and see how it goes... he has been about as injury prone as Glen Little over the last few seasons but would obviously command a much higher wage...

Please please please don't get freddie

No to Freddie, well passed his best now.

Please no more bench signings.

Agree with southport that Linvoy desperately needs to play games and a short loan spell would be the ideal answer but finding a host club may be the problem as they would rather have a settled team. Freddie is 31 now and probably passed his best but that is the type of player HR revels with.

sasha go get swp 4 us as utaka waste of space and heard james milner handed in transfer request go get him on loan !!! ljungberg past his best and plus we have all arsenal + spurs rejects already . Glad primus iz staying

this may not be a popular view, but i can't see the point in keeping primus. i know he has been a great "servant" to the club, but we should not be sentimental when offering players new contracts. it is obvious he is hardly going to play this season, due to injury and the new standard of defender we have at the club. we definately need midfield options, but ljungberg seems a very expensive option for the quality we would be recieving.

Id rather have Motta than Freddie...

Still no official confirmation on either Pompey or Charlton web sites re Primus, although i'm pleased he won't be going for the season he does need to get his fitness up to scratch.

I tell i lie just a few small words re Primus going to Charlton till Christmas from harry at the bottom of his were getting there article on the site. Can't think how i missed that!

Once agian Linvoy stays when he seems certain to be forced out! Ljungberg is way past his arsenal glory days but the lure of his former team mates here could encourage him to sign, a creative midfielder is urgently needed. SWP is not a wonder player like some people think he is, like crouch there is always a lot of media hype over fairly average english players. But he would be a good addition to the team if the price is right and harry can get him back into the form he was in at Man City.

linvoy could go to reading for a couple of months. when he gets back in the first team you won't get him out
robertpog
Unlucky for Charlton, obviously didn't know a good thing. Ljungberg? Dear God no! What did he do at his last club for pitys sake?
