Pompey Reserves 1 Sunderland Reserves 0

Our reserves beat Sunderland yesterday in a behind closed doors friendly, with Hermann Hreidarsson - who the previous night was on the bench for the game with Manyoo - scoring the winner.

This is the match report from the Pompey Site...

==========

HERMANN SINKS SUNDERLAND

Hermann Hreidarsson's 86th minute header settled a behind-closed-doors friendly between Pompey and Sunderland reserves at Fratton Park on Tuesday.

The Iceland defender rose to bury John Utaka's cross in what was a game of few chances.

Another plus for Pompey was the form of Glen Little who teased the Sunderland defence throughout out on the right wing.

Several times he made tantalising runs in behind Sunderland's left back to provide crosses for Pompey's strikeforce.

Sunderland will consider themselves unlucky to have gone in at half time still on level terms, however.

Rade Prica should have done better but fired wide with only Jamie Ashdown to beat after just five minutes.

Then a sweeping move on the break caught Pompey cold only for Jack Colbeck to shoot across Ashdown and past the post.

And in the second half they troubled Pompey again when Jordan Henderson twanged the bar after Jamie Chandler had got the better of Noe Pamarot.

With time running out, however, Utaka crossed from the left and HREIDARSSON broke the stalemate to clinch victory.

Pompey: Ashdown (Trialist 46); Lauren, Hreidarsson, Noe Pamarot, D Traore; Little, Trialist, Mvuemba, Hughes (Trialist 30); Sahar, Utaka

Sunderland: Colgan; Hope, Liddle, Kavanagh, McShane; Hartley, Henderson, Meyler (Chandler 65), Prica; Colbeck, Luscombe (Cook 50)

Referee: Dean Treleaven

any idea who any of the trialists where ? Motta ? Innocence ?
southportpompey
3 Trialists! This game must have been arrangd for their benefit and for arry to take alook at them. Surely at least one of them must have been good enough?

we need to start playing little on the right ... hes obviously the best choice at the moment!
pompey--pessimist
Apparently Motta was one of the trialists and he played the whole 90 minutes
southportpompey
Little yes what about Utaka?
southportpompey
If Motta's any good then I hope Arry and the boys have the sense to keep Gollum (Moyes) away.
