Baros was Griffins

Baros was Griffins

Harry told Pompey Pages:

'I told them in the dressing-room that you can't win games unless you all do your jobs.

'We give them all jobs to do. We write up on the board who they're meant to be picking up, particularly from set-pieces. You tell then 20, 50, 100 times. They all know who they're marking.

'For Villa's goal we didn't pick up a corner. Baros is stood completely unmarked at the back post. It was poor marking. Andy Griffin didn't pick him up. It was his man. But it's about the whole team, not one person.

'Our other problem is that we can't score.'

'It's between four clubs for one remaining place now. It's going to be very difficult to catch West Brom and Birmingham. But it's not all over yet.'

Do you blame the defence or attack more?

You have to blame the attack because if you can't score you can't win games. Conceeding a goal doesn't condemn you to defeat if you grab more at the other end. 18 goals from 28 games is simply not good enough. In reality the whole team takes the blame because they should be playing as a team, defending and scoring. Isn't that what football is all about.

I like your idea Nelson and I am sure we would get more wins than 4 and definitely more goals.I would only have players that would be proud to adorn the Pompey shirt, salaries would be linked to performance and ability, more home grown talent would be sought with less likely to be away on international duty....Ireland, Wales and Scotland O.K. I would be calling upon fans to poll out of 10 the performance of each player and this would become a tool for selection. Right Milan are you reading this column.....

Do you agree with Harry dobbing in Griffin to the press and not taking the blame himself; end of the day surelly its the managers fault if jobs arent done on the pitch and he should take the blame publicly (then batter him in dressing room) not openly blame him to press?

Big Ben returns!

There's no doubting how important Davies is to us, we most definitely missed the former Sheffield United man against Orient but Cook's confirmed he'll start against Bristol Rovers.

Winning over the fans

Cook feels he still has to 'win over a proportion' of the fans at Pompey?

Tubbs surprised...in a way he has a point

5-goals in a combined total of 8-matches isn't a bad return is it so having made his move to Eastleigh this week I get Tubbs' point at his surprise Cook wasn't selecting him.

Pompey Predictions League - update no.28

The Pompey predictions league is very much part of this site now! This continued with a defeat to Orient last Saturday.
