Pompey good value for money? Apparently not...

In terms of value for money stakes Pompey would be in for a relegation battle, just scraping survival... Wigan would be running away with the title!

This is what some research has found out...

==========

Premium Price or Premier Value? Wigan win the league and Arsenal go down...

With the new football season set to start, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) asks Premiership football fans: are you getting the best value for money from your season ticket?

As footballers' wages rocket annually, ticket prices follow. The question is - do some fans get better value for money than others? This is what a new study by ACCA has tried to uncover. With the top three running clear of the pack in our value for money table, it could almost be the premier league, but in our league - Wigan are sitting pretty, with Blackburn, and Aston Villa close behind.

There is no question that northern fans get better value, while London supporters are at the bottom of the league. The capital does not have one club in the top half of the table. The results are found by taking each team's value (see further details below), dividing the value by the cost of the mid-range season ticket from that team, and multiplying the result by 100. The final scores were then put into the following league table:

1 Wigan 21.1
2 Blackburn 20.5
3 Aston Villa 17.6
4 Bolton 12.9
5 Everton 12.8
6 Hull 12.3
7 Sunderland 12.2
8 Man City 12.1
9 West Brom 12
10 Stoke 12
11 Middlesbrough 11.9
12 Liverpool 11.8
13 Chelsea 11.5
14 Man Utd 11.3
15 Fulham 10.6
16 Newcastle 10.2
17 Portsmouth 9
18 West Ham 7.9
19 Tottenham 7.1
20 Arsenal 6.4

That's the penalty we pay for having such a small capacity I guess.

this didn't make sense to me: I found this additional info to explain the vfm calculation.::: Player values according to the official premierleague.com fantasy football league. Each team value is found by adding the combined values of the teams 11 most valuable players that fit into a standard 442 formation (i.e. the most valuable goalkeeper, the 4 most valuable defenders, the 4 most valuable midfielders, and the two most valuable striker). Each team also has specific offers on their season tickets, including Wigan, who offer a free season ticket to under 5s when a full paying adult buys one; and Sunderland who offer a season ticket for the under 12s for only £120.

Im a little confused. Is this trying to say we have the worst value for the money? If it is then the report is completely inaccurate. Who plays the most attractive football to watch in the EPL? It surely isnt Wigan.
gunnerkid107
it's the cost of the 11 best players divided by the cost of the season ticket - see my comments above.
