CHELSEA V PORTSMOUTH
Chelsea may be touted as title contenders even more strongly this year but the first game of any campaign is always dodgy ground, not least if your opponents are one of the most disciplined outfits in the league.
In all the furore of the transfer market in the off season one of the more promising moves has to be that of lofty striker Peter Crouch returning to the south coast. His deft touch, holding play and height advantage look set to bolster an already talented side that move from strength to strength under the stewardship of Harry Redknap.
He has had plenty of time to settle in now and with pace man Defoe on hand to stretch defences could well become part of a prolific partnership. It could pay dividends getting on the Crouch train early this season.

If Chelski play 5 in the middle, they will cut off the supply line to Defoe & Crouch & starve them of service.
