Davis rejects Celtic move plus other Pompey news

'Reports' over the past 24 hours or so keep claiming that Sean Davis was interesting Celtic, with it now claimed he has even rejected a move to Scotland.

As far as I am aware nothing has been said by Davis, his representatives or officials at either club but the suggestion is that Celtic offered 2.5m for the midfielder and we accepted this bid - but he did not want to move to the Scottish champions...

I do not think that it is any great secret that he is quite possibly one of the players that we are most likely trying to sell, but so far despite 'rumoured' interest from a few clubs - north and south of the border - this is the first reported bid to have been accepted, that is of course if it has even really happened?

There is some talk that Fulham are interested in taking him back to the club at which he had his most success, some reports even claim he 'will' return to London... As always we wait and see.

==========

Also, as everyone knows OJ has now officially completed his move to Pompey, and no sooner had he received the documentation he needed the young Gambian was off again as he has gone to Norwich on loan for the season - again a move that we already knew had been arranged...

Hopefully this loan will work out for him and he can return at the end of the season and make a positive impact with Pompey in the seasons that lie ahead?

Joining him in leaving the club on loan will most probably be Asmir Begovic, who is likely to return for another loan period with Yeovil and Danijel Subotic, who is being linked with a move.

Subotic has featured in our pre-season schedule - even scoring I believe, possibly against Swindon? - but is still someway off making a 1st team breakthrough - if he ever does - and 'reports' suggest that he could become the first player to benefit from our link-up with Belgian club Zulte Waregem...

==========

And finally, despite Joe Jordan saying that Lassana Diarra should be fit for the charity shield on Sunday it seems about a 50:50 split with various reports! Some say he will be fit, a pretty much equal amount claim he will now miss out against Manyoo?

Thoughts as ever on any, or all of the above please guys...

Thank god for that. Hes utter pish!
R.K
Why the hell would he want to play in a tiny pointless league in Scotland. Quick hard hats on lads.
storagematt
Davis deserves first team football against decent opposition - he won't find that in Scotland.

In other news - just read a story from another site on Newsnow stating a Brazilian media source reckons we're in for Brazilian legend Ronaldo! Could be a bit wide of the mark that one!
Tantona
fat chance of that happening tatonta... (we are making jokes about his weight arnt we?)
pompeycarpet
and as for davis - we need to be keeping all the central midfielders we can, and after his start to last season, nhe could be really important for us!
pompeycarpet
It's good to see that we have players that want to stay at the lub and fight for their places. Well at least thats how it sounds.
sneakay
What's wrong with Davis? Good solid player. One of our more fiery characters on the pitch, which I like to see. Has proven he can play in our first team but is a little inconsistant, hardly pish methinks.
Pompeyscum
I am sure that Diarra will play through any minor injuries to get the chance in the Community Shield, seeing as it could well be our first win over Manyoo of two in a month.
pompeywa
Agree, SM, the only reason for playing in Scotland for Rangers or Celtic is because Euro football comes by default rather than class skill and all that stuff. Nobody any good would want to play there unless they're not good enough for a real Euro team - like us! Ha.
Et_tu_Pompeii
To be honest, having sold our scariest 'kick them up in the air' player, 'The Munter', we need all the Davis/Hughes types we can get. We've got a few nancy boys in midfield so if Sean wants to stay, that's fine.
Et_tu_Pompeii
Following the many stories that Davis is not part of "HR"'s plans anymore, has he played in any of the pre season games?
007
some, yes.
Et_tu_Pompeii
But so has Djimi Djimi; it's that shop window thing, you know, please buy these players, look they can run AND kick a ball at the same time.
Et_tu_Pompeii
Doesn't seem to have worked, though.
Et_tu_Pompeii
Yeah, even with what sounds a pretty impressive preseason from Traore...at least by his standards.
pompeywa
Can't blame him play each team 4 times a season, I think thats what they still do "how dull"

The Quay have just suggested that Davis should move on based on his performance at Havant tonight..

mvuemba with the 3rd - could this guy be the suprise of the season??
dave.jolley81
I like Davis but unfortunately he is unpopular with Harry so even on a 7 seat sub bench he may not be included.
frattonaussie
I heard this morning that West Ham are in for Davis.
NinjaTim
curbishley was at the H&W game so he was watching someone - probably daivs? if they came in for him i reckon he would leave...
pompeyrug
I haven't herd the West Ham link, but he does travel from London so yes he would be tempted for sure rug.
