Davis rejects Celtic move plus other Pompey news

Davis rejects Celtic move plus other Pompey news

'Reports' over the past 24 hours or so keep claiming that Sean Davis was interesting Celtic, with it now claimed he has even rejected a move to Scotland.

As far as I am aware nothing has been said by Davis, his representatives or officials at either club but the suggestion is that Celtic offered £2.5m for the midfielder and we accepted this bid - but he did not want to move to the Scottish champions...

I do not think that it is any great secret that he is quite possibly one of the players that we are most likely trying to sell, but so far despite 'rumoured' interest from a few clubs - north and south of the border - this is the first reported bid to have been accepted, that is of course if it has even really happened?

There is some talk that Fulham are interested in taking him back to the club at which he had his most success, some reports even claim he 'will' return to London... As always we wait and see.

Also, as everyone knows OJ has now officially completed his move to Pompey, and no sooner had he received the documentation he needed the young Gambian was off again as he has gone to Norwich on loan for the season - again a move that we already knew had been arranged...

Hopefully this loan will work out for him and he can return at the end of the season and make a positive impact with Pompey in the seasons that lie ahead?

Joining him in leaving the club on loan will most probably be Asmir Begovic, who is likely to return for another loan period with Yeovil and Danijel Subotic, who is being linked with a move.

Subotic has featured in our pre-season schedule - even scoring I believe, possibly against Swindon? - but is still someway off making a 1st team breakthrough - if he ever does - and 'reports' suggest that he could become the first player to benefit from our link-up with Belgian club Zulte Waregem...

And finally, despite Joe Jordan saying that Lassana Diarra should be fit for the charity shield on Sunday it seems about a 50:50 split with various reports! Some say he will be fit, a pretty much equal amount claim he will now miss out against Manyoo?

Thoughts as ever on any, or all of the above please guys...

Thank god for that. Hes utter pish!

Why the hell would he want to play in a tiny pointless league in Scotland. Quick hard hats on lads.
05/08/2008 15:38:00
Davis deserves first team football against decent opposition - he won't find that in Scotland.
05/08/2008 16:04:00
In other news - just read a story from another site on Newsnow stating a Brazilian media source reckons we're in for Brazilian legend Ronaldo! Could be a bit wide of the mark that one!
05/08/2008 16:06:00
fat chance of that happening tatonta... (we are making jokes about his weight arnt we?)
05/08/2008 16:18:00
and as for davis - we need to be keeping all the central midfielders we can, and after his start to last season, nhe could be really important for us!
05/08/2008 16:19:00
It's good to see that we have players that want to stay at the lub and fight for their places. Well at least thats how it sounds.
05/08/2008 16:31:00
What's wrong with Davis? Good solid player. One of our more fiery characters on the pitch, which I like to see. Has proven he can play in our first team but is a little inconsistant, hardly pish methinks.
05/08/2008 17:04:00
I am sure that Diarra will play through any minor injuries to get the chance in the Community Shield, seeing as it could well be our first win over Manyoo of two in a month.
05/08/2008 18:09:00
Agree, SM, the only reason for playing in Scotland for Rangers or Celtic is because Euro football comes by default rather than class skill and all that stuff. Nobody any good would want to play there unless they're not good enough for a real Euro team - like us! Ha.

Another loan for Oxlade-Chamberlain

As I think we all know by now Oxlade-Chamberlain is the son of former Pompey winger Mark Chamberlain and the brother of Arsenal's & England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Cook - Notts County another tough game

Pompey's form at Fratton has been impressive this season with our home return coming against Notts County off the back of wins at Leyton Orient and a point at Plymouth last Saturday.
