2008/09 Pompey match reports

Right guys, as Vital Pompey belongs to us all and in various ways we all follow Pompey on a matchday I am throwing open a new idea for the coming season - one that I hope plenty will take advantage of...

I first got my break on this site by becoming the 'match day reporter' - something that I have done for the past 2 seasons, which is something that I do very much enjoy doing I might add! However I have since become 'the landlord', so with an increasing workload with that but elsewhere too, not to mention the amount of travelling I will be doing to get to games this season it would be a great help if we could all pitch in and help with match reports?

As I think it is good to get different views and opinions, and openly express my wish for people to get involved - which plenty of you do - I also think that it would be good to get different opinions on the games, so it is my hope that people will volunteer or request to be able to write match reports for specific games...

I have started this thread in the forum - here.

There must be games that you most look forward to, so maybe these will be games you would like to report on? Just because you do not attend the game it does not mean you cannot report on it. I know it is harder to report if you cannot actually be there, but plenty of times over the past 2-years I have had no alternative and I do not think - blowing my own trumpet! - that this has made them any less accurate, one sided or enjoyable to read...

So each week I will ask for a volunteer to write that weeks match report - if needed, and all being well I will get a taker?

If there is a specific game you want to report on let me know below, via email - portsmouth@vitalfootball.co.uk, private message or leave a message on the already mentioned forum thread.

I will remind people about the match reports thread each week with a banner at the foot of articles - similar to the sign up and prediction league ones below - and if you want the report that week, just say.

Should there be no interest then there will still be a report, but ideally I hope that the involvement that we all have with this site can be extended to see different reporters throughout the season. Should you be a repeat match reporter that is fine, but hopefully we can share them out...

You will not be pressured into having it with me by a specific time, but the sooner the better. Do not be afraid to do this, people might not agree with your take on a game but then you just discuss it. It does not have to be an award winning piece, I know I have set high standards for you to follow but do not feel daunted :-)

So, who is up for this? Remember this is our site, not my site, our site so the more views and opinions and different people writing for it the better...

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
