Talking Pompey with pompeygrant01

Talking Pompey with pompeygrant01

Vital Pompey has previously brought you the 'knowing me knowing you series' - which is still running, so others will be added and if you want to do one just email - now we have a little something extra this summer...

pompeygrant01 was asked 5 quick questions, this is what they said.

  • What are you expecting from Pompey in the coming season?
Well, after last seasons exploits, I think that it will be more of a top 10 finish rather than top 6, this is mainly because of the added uefa cup games, personally, I don't think we have the squad to compete for top 6 as well as in Europe.

Hopefully, we have a good European campaign and a decent run in both cups.

  • Uefa cup - are you a fan of us being in this, or are you against it? Either way how well do you reckon we can do?
I am a big fan of this, it can only be good for the club. It puts us on the European market and will attract bigger names to the club. It is a new experience for us, and one we should relish.

I am confident that we will do well, possibly getting to the quarter finals, depending on the draw of course!

  • Which 3 players - that we could realistically sign - would you like to see arrive this summer?
After getting Crouch, I "hope" that we can get our three "priorities", a left back, centre back and a right winger. I would definitely like to get Kaboul, he has his critics, but I think he will be great in the future, for both club and country. There only seems to be one left back for me, and that is Shorey, a quality player who is available at a "cheap" price, I think he could play a great part for us. My third player is one I haven't heard mentioned a lot, but I believe is quality, Aaron Lennon, quick, can get round defender, a good crosser and probably cheaper than SWP.

  • If you had to select 1 player to get shot of - or maybe to rephrase or make this decision easier, 'sacrifice' - to make a signing who would it be and why?
If it was a case of money, then Utaka, especially if we were getting another winger in a deal. Although I like him and believe he will better this season, he could raise the funds. Just out of personal hate, I would "sacrifice" Diop. I cannot stand the guy. He can't pass, shoot, or tackle. I don't think he adds anything to the team (except the card count!)

  • How many Pompey games do you expect to make this season?
As a season ticket holder for the last 4 years, I hope to go to all home games plus Fulham away (bit of a tradition for me). Hopefully the odd European game and maybe a cup game. Its getting difficult now I am starting college and am getting some sort of part time job though!

Thanks to pompeygrant01 for answering these.

    PLAY UP POMPEY!

    ==========

That's the lot guys, I have no more of these to offer! So it is down to you now if we want more of these...

Nice answers PG; I see Diop is probably second favourite now in the "get rid" league; I can't disagree with you.

HI PG1. Yep, Utaka & Diop are fighting it out. They both have a lot to prove.

diop has shown everything we are likely to see from him, Utaka looks like he has a lot of ability stashed away. it just depends whether "sir" harry can release it!

Nice one PompeyGrant ... Agree with you completely about Diopn although with Sylley gone I think we'll see more rather than less of him this season... Barn door with a shotgun always springs to mind
