Crouch and Defoe - hit or miss? ... Big hit!

Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe will be a big, big hit for Pompey, not my vote, yours - and these findings from pompey4me's poll are thoughts I agree with completely!

There was no hesitation at all, as a very small minority are not convinced by it, either by being unsure or simply not believing it will work - but they have played for England before at under 21 and full international level and been successful, so week in week out for Pompey why should this not also be the case?

Following the win at Bournemouth on Monday, when the pair showed some promising signings Harry Redknapp told the Pompey Site how much he thinks it will be a success - he is a definite believer: 'I think they could be the best partnership since Johnny Dick and Vic Keeble. They played for West Ham and were like peaches and cream - they were fantastic.

'It was good to see Crouch and Defoe playing together. I'm sure they'll prosper as a partnership.

'You have to learn how to play with Crouchie - he's different.

'I think him and Defoe will be a good partnership but it's about sorting out the other nine to learn how to play with him.'

The thing we have to remember though it is a team effort, so it is not all just about 'Crouch and Defoe', but goals do win games and with these two there is the potential for a lot of goals...

  • What the poll asked - Crouch has re-signed, simple poll, Defoe and Crouch....

  • How you voted - Hit 82%, Miss 9%, Maybe 9%

  • Current Poll - The building of sneakay's all time starting XI of the Premier League continues with the right back...

A goalkeeper has been found, but who is the all time best Premier League right back - this is what sneakay wants to know with this - 'You are voting for your all time starting XI of the Premier League. The position is right back' Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

There is reason why it won't work. Two very talented, experienced players. The only fly in the ointment is can we play 442 away from home against the best teams in the prem? Or do we go 451, rest one of them or play one of them in midfield?

i suppose i am a bit different to most in that i think Crouch not Defoe will probably be our leading scorer this season, and i am putting my money on it. i do thouh think it is dependant upon harry buying a fast winger who can cross the ball.

As long as they score a hatful between them, I don't mind who gets the most. Maybe having such a good strike force will give 'Arry a few headaches regarding shelving the 4-5-1 for more away games in the coming season....probably not against the big four though.

They proved at Bournemouth last night they can play together now all they have to do is do it prove themselves in the PL.

Obvious poll really, but tbh, was surprised to see 18% either think it will be a miss or just don't know. I think it'll hit straight off. Think 'arry will sart the season 442 away and see how it goes.

Russellm. you are not alone as I also think Crouch will be our leading scorer but only just ahead of Defoe. From the way Harry seems to be lining up the team I think the lone striker format will be a thing of the past unless injuries come into play.

I'm woried about the 442 away from home... Will the midfield be strong enough to cope with supplying the two up to AND covering the back four as well as 5 did last term.. It's gonna be an exciting season for sure .. a few 4-3's and 3-2's I reckon .. better than all the 1-0's we had last season.. not sure my nerves will take it !

    what happened to Baros btw?
