Premier League All Time Starting XI - Goalkeeper

Well the votes are in for the goalkeepers and you have voted as follows into the top 3.

Peter Schmeichel (44%)
David James (39%)
Petr Cech (12%)

No real surprise as to the winner, well not for me anyway. The big Danish Stopper was a giant between the posts for Manchester United between 1991 and 1999, then later playing a season for Aston Villa in 2001 - 2002 and a season for Manchester City 2002 - 2003. Whilst at United Schmeichel won five FA Premier League titles, three FA Cups, one League Cup, and the UEFA Champions League. He also claimed an amazing 22 clean sheets in the 1992 - 93 season helping United to their first Premier League Title.

He was also the first Premier League keeper to score a goal, whilst between the sticks for Aston Villa, although they still lost 3-2 to Everton in that game. A worthy winner of the crown in my eyes although David James was not too far behind.

Next up are the right backs. I spent a good hour or so debating this in the pub on Sunday to get these players as the final selection. Who will you choose?

I see a few people are voting for other in the option for the right back. Who are you voting for?

Firstly I still have doubts about Schmeichel as a goalkeeper. He played behind a great defence but could be a bit of a clown with his star jumps etc. As to the right backs and the others being pompey folk I expect they would say Glen Johnson but he is young and still has a lot to prove. Neville stands out, Dixon part of the famous Arsenal back four and Lauren went through the season undefeated, so there is plenty of choice.

Yep, has to be Schmeichel for me. Personally think he raised the bar for goalkeeping, star jumps 'n' all!
