D'Alessandro sways Aimar Pompey way?

There has been some talk that Pablo Aimar could move to Pompey this summer, and although most would welcome this it has been viewed as 'unlikely'...

However these 'reports' have been gathering pace over the past couple of days and today some are starting to filter through that former Pompey star Andres D'Alessandro, a countryman of Aimar, has spoken to him about Pompey and could have swayed him in our direction?

D'Alessandro, who despite an all to brief stay with Pompey has become a cult hero on the South Coast. He is also a player that so many of us have always hoped would return - it is almost a traditional transfer window theme for him to be 'linked' with such a return in fact. He played a major role in helping us survive in our 'great escape' season and in a way, although he would not be personally returning a small part of him would if he has been able to convince Aimar that Pompey is the club for him.

All we can do now is just wait and see what happens, but the word I am getting - and the word I often get, from a reliable source, is not too far wide of the mark as we know - is that there is 'a real possibility' this deal could happen following his chat with his countryman...

Could he be a replacement for Muntari who the papers have linked away from Pompey again?
bluedr
Bah, we get the Muntari to Juve links every window now! Muntari himself had the chance to move to Juve when he chose us, that speaks volumes for me....besides, he wants to sign for Man U doesn't he? Obviously heard of Aimar, no idea how good he is though. D'Allesandro instead please?
Tantona
You never you know how of this is smoke & mirrors. Jurno making stories with tenious links.
storagematt
All a little strange. I think I will be happy when all the transfers are done and we can just concentrate on the football.
sneakay
Must convince total ignorance about Aimar, but if he's anything like D'Allessandro he'd be worth having.

The latest rumour that concerns me is Krunchie to Arsenal. It seems they might be prepared to offer £15M and I can't see him not going if that happens. It seems he's Wenger's second choice if he can't get Barry - fingers crossed he does get Barry then.
tracyc
The Nico and The Ar*e rumour may be why we are linked with Jeremy Menez. Would love Aimar but D'Allesandro is one of my all time favourites.
Et_tu_Pompeii
He wont Barry has made it abundantly clear he want to go to liverpool, it would put some sense to the playmaker aimar rumour. This rumour has been circulating in france and spain for some days so i do think the club have made those "unofficial enquiries"
russellm
there are also reports that we have enquired about Govou, the french swp. This would also make sense
russellm
just speculating... but lose Muntari and Niko but gain Menez and Aimar.. Yep I'd settle for that .. Now sit back and watch as the flood gates open on the very thought that I could agree to let darling Niko leave Pompey
Chix
Nico's made for European football, would be a shame if he left now
Et_tu_Pompeii
i was talking about this very thing with my cousin on the phone this afternoon and we agreed that if arsenal come in with a £15m offer for niko i would expect we would bite their hand off - and as much as we rate him and want to keep him we would be disappointed if they didnt... arsenal will not pay £15m for him tho, so its a worry we not need worry about.BR>also, if juve come in with a £10m plus offer for muntari, again i would bit their hand off...
pompeyrug
I've looking at Jérémy Menez on YouTube and the more I see the more I think he will light up Fratton next season - hurry up Harry, buy him.
Et_tu_Pompeii
I don't know anything about Menez or Aimar or Govou but everyone seems to think they are all OK so I'll reserve judgement. I don't think Niko will go to Arsenal unless he has a big change of heart but, realistically, if Arsenal offer 15 million I would urge Harry to try to get him to go. For 15 million there are better players available. He is good but not that good and has some shortcomings. We could buy SWP and one or 2 others for 15 million and that would make sense. Muntari has again been linked with other clubs and Utaka is apparently wanted back by Rennes. Davis is as good as gone. I'd like to see Muntari stay and Utaka go if the money is right. Just thinking out loud: Our transfer budget was rumoured to be 20 million. We've spent around 10 million. If Niko went for 15 million, Utaka for 3 million and Davis for a bit over 2 million; There would be 30 million in the bank which would buy some pretty decent players to strengthen the squad without losing too much.

ET-tu... I've been singing Menez praises for about a month now in the forums .. seriously... the bloke is 'out of this world' and I'd wet myself if Harry signed him before Rafa , Fergie and Jose (they are all queueing up too.... The rumour is that we've had a £9m bid turned down .. but I'm expecting (rather blindly admittedly) to see him in a Pompey shirt before the end of the week ... if we mess around with this one we'l lose him that's for sure..
Chix
Menez is awesome -bit arogant but class Here's some youtube footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8b0ijzDjagI

Some really good insight on posts above. Personally though, I'd like to keep Krunchie and, if absolutely necessary, let Muntari go. The guys who are already here have gelled a bit so it would be a shame to have to start from scratch.
Toronto4Pompey
Well said T4P, our team know each other and are starting to play well together. If only the 12m offer from Juventus for Muntari were true, I would definitely be happy to sacrifice him to acquire Menez.
Gandor
ive still got my reservations about menez tbh... doubted talent and ability but ive heard he spend alot of time on the treatment table, but for that he would be at a club like manyoo already - lets say we did have £13m for him, which i doubt, is it worth the risk...
pompeyrug
According to Sultana Sports today he's reckns his chances of moving to 'a bigger league' have been scuppered by his injury (although he's now fit again) He reckons he's staying in Monaco for another year.... but then we also heard we've had an offer rejected.. paper talk or smoke and mirrors.. only time will tell..
