Talking Pompey with plymouth graham

Vital Pompey has previously brought you the 'knowing me knowing you series' - which is still running, so others will be added and if you want to do one just email - now we have a little something extra this summer...

plymouth graham was asked 5 quick questions, this is what they said.

  • What are you expecting from Pompey in the coming season?
With the price of petrol and admission going up and more games on Setanta I expect to visit FP less go to the pub more. Also with Euro games looming I expect that some of those games I get up to FP for will be on a Thursday night.

  • Uefa cup - are you a fan of us being in this, or are you against it? Either way how well do you reckon we can do?
Got to be a fan of it. The Status of the club has grown incredibly in the Redknapp years. My son who has no interest in football, tells me he has seen kids with Pompey shirts on from school since FA cup final. I think we will get to the Semi-Finals without pushing too hard and quite possibly the final against Spurs.

  • Which 3 players - that we could realistically sign - would you like to see arrive this summer?
Shorey at left back interests me although I might prefer Scummer Bridge. Either way a good attacking left back. Obviously Crouch would be great but as this is Sunday afternoon I suspect he has already joined us (this was written last weekend), so SWP would be an interesting signing. As well as a cover for Sol... not sure who.

  • If you had to select 1 player to get shot of - or maybe to rephrase or make this decision easier, 'sacrifice' - to make a signing who would it be and why?
I love Richard Hughes, but for his career I would let him go to a club where he could play regularly and be the hero we all know he is. I think Diop has annoyed everyone as much as Utaka has with their inconsistency and ineffectiveness. I think Nugent needs a little more time to prove himself and with Kanu, Defoe, Crouch and Nuge that area seems well catered... um Richard Hughes it is then.

  • How many Pompey games do you expect to make this season?
Who knows... See answer number 1. Maybe 5. Petrol permitting

Thanks to plymouth graham for answering these.

    PLAY UP POMPEY!

Hi PG. I like RH. No nonsense gets on with it, takes his chances when they come. A credit to himself & the club. Shame he couldn't have played in the final over othres like Barros & Diop who havn't given what he has.

    Nice answers PG.

    good one Graham,
    russellm
I agree with you entirely about Hughes,
    russellm
Graham, did you vote in the strikers poll?
    russellm
nice one Graham. Interesting about Hughes because I feel he might come into his own this year with us now able to rely more on the mobility & potency of the front two rather than having to have every midfielder as an auxilliary striker.

Good answers Graham.. there's little chance of petrol coming down in price so when you do make it down make sure you let us know and perhaps we can meet up again for a quick shant. .... You could always hitch hike of course .. Get to Salsibury and I'll take you the rest of the way !
