Danijel Subotic Talks About Pompey!

Portsmouth striker Danijel Subotic kicks off his new website with his thoughts on Pompey after six months at Fratton Park.

"I have been in Portsmouth for just over six months now. When I was at FC Basel I received a letter from Portsmouth, inviting me to train with them. So I went there one week from Monday to Friday and I obviously made a good impression. I talked to Harry Redknapp and in the next week they gave me a professional contract.

"I have played for the reserves a lot since arriving here. At the beginning I didn't think about where I was playing, be it in the first team or the reserves, I just wanted to play for Portsmouth. I am impressed at the quality of reserve-team football - it's the same as playing in the Premiership in Switzerland. After three or four reserve games I had the feeling that okay, maybe I could play for the first-team now. I am going to keep on giving my best in every game and hopefully I will break into the first team.

"A lot of people still haven't seen me play. I don't know if I am similar to anyone else. I want to have my own style, to be myself. But maybe I am a bit like Kanu. I like Kanu. He is a big lad and I think he has got great skill, great moves. He is a brilliant striker."

A bit like Kanu. Demanding on the contract issue, Kanu. Sublime brilliance, Kanu. Lazy, Kanu. Scores very important goals at Wembley, Kanu. Which?

Never seen the lad play so I can't give fair comment...at least he's talking positively about his experiences!

It seems like a bad time to be subotic as we are going to have probably 5 other strikers ahead of him, unless Kanu does not sign and Nugent gets sold (both of which I doubt). Lets hope he has the patience to hang on in there and wait for his chance.

why not russ, we will clearly be loaning players to the belgian club - and no doubt using them to help us get visa etc - so why not him? altho i wouldnt mind him given a chance in the league cup perhaps?
as pointed out patience is the key for him tho...

Yeah it's gonna be interesting to see where he fits in Harry's plans... I wonder how the Belgium league stacks up .. if the English reserves is like the Swiss premier league...

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
