Talking Peter Crouch with Gerry Ormonde

Talking Peter Crouch with Gerry Ormonde

With Peter Crouch being heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool, with Pompey a possible - in fact probably - destination I thought I would ask Gerry Ormonde from Vital Liverpool a few questions on the mater - this is what was said...

  • I think it is now fair to say that Crouch will leave Liverpool this summer right? Is this a setback or has it been accept by the scousers?
I think we accepted that he would be going for a long time now. But we will be sorry to see him go. He's a very good player, a lot better then some people give him credit for and he has always giving us 100% on the pitch. He will be sure to get a big reception from The Kop whenever he returns to play at Anfield.

  • Rafa had asked £15m, which given the state of his contract is 'optimistic', so what do you realistically think it will take to get him?
I think £12million would be a realistic price, but somewhere between £10million and £12milion will probably be what we end up with.

  • Do you think Pompey are the club that will get him, if not who will?
I hope Pompey get him. You guys have been making some great progress recently and I think Crouch and Defoe would be a good strike partnership for you.

  • Whilst we are talking, what are you expectations for Liverpool this season?
I'd like to be able to say that this will be definitely the year that we win the Premiership, but I'm just hoping we can put in a sustained challenge at the top, and if we're still there or there-abouts come March/April time, we'll see what happens. If we can't win the Premiership, then I guess we'll just have to settle for the Champions League again!

Good luck to you guys next season.

Thanks to Gerry Ormonde for answering these.

I was very please to hear Gerry say that Peter Crouch will give us 100% on the pitch. We all know he can score as well, anyway.

Everyone says he is underrated, but I always thought people couldn't spot the skill that lies in those twiggy legs, his footwork is good and he will be better than last time he pulled on the blue of Pompey

agreed paul, i always thought he shiowed great potential when we had him last time - his ability on the ground was always good then, some 8 years on or so and working with some of the best players around has made him even better now...

He is better then what people think. That my friends should benefit him & us next season. Our highs & lows will be Crouch & Defoe.

Its simple he hardly played a full game and got 13 goals against mostly the same teams that we will be playing. If he averages the same goals per pitch time that will make a two place higher difference opn last season.

Poco e Grandi - I think that could catch on Bellezza. Poco Defoe e Grandi Crouch. Glad to see another supporter seeing that Pompey is the up and coming club for player to go to. I wonder how much of a challenge they now see us as?

Northampton (h) - Securing home advantage?

Some could view this as a 'dead rubber!' It isn't as Champions Northampton will want to end on a high and Pompey will want 'an advantage' against Plymouth in the play-offs. Right?

    Pompey MotM at Hartlepool

Pompey went into the penultimate game with a slim chance of a top 3 finish. A 2-0 win at Hartlepool saw the Blues do what we needed but wins for others ended those chances.
