Another arrival has been confirmed with Ben Sahar completing his expected loan move to Pompey from Chelski to become our 2nd signing of the summer.
The Israeli teenager has made an impact in the Championship after loans with QPR and Wednesday now he is hoping to make the grade in the top flight as he explained to the Pompey Site: 'I've always wanted to be part of a Premier League team and I'm happy to be at Portsmouth.
'I'm ready for the challenge of being part of such a big club.
'I want to be part of it and to show that I deserve to be here.'
He is also excited about the prospect of playing in front of the best fans in the world, which of course we are: 'I've heard a lot of good things about the fans.
'I've been here twice with Chelsea and the fans were incredible. It's difficult to play against Portsmouth because they are singing all the time.
'My goal is to play and I'm striker, so of course I want to score a few goals for Portsmouth - that's why I'm here.
'It's a new beginning and I'm ready for it.'
The 18 year old has joined on an initial 6 month loan deal, picking Fratton over several other alternatives, including Dutch club NEC.
I have only heard good things about his quality, and what I have seen has been good - although the one thing that does concern me is the fact that he is said to 'believe the hype' surrounding him, which might lead him to thinking he is actually bigger and better than he is and could see him react in a bad way if he cannot get regular 1st team football...
His signing will no doubt put further question marks over the future of Dave Nugent in particular, but I cannot see any reason why we cannot retain him as well - as after all this is only a loan to begin with.
My thinking is this puts further pressure on Kanu, as with Peter Crouch likely to sign - I fully believe this will happen, and maybe this week - if he does not agree to sign his new deal he could, and I would say under the circumstances should be shown the door!
So there we are guys, it's the 1st July so this should, as expected, really signal the start of things to come. As always your thoughts would be welcomed...

so all in all i dont see it as bad business, it would have been worse business to cut our nose off to spite our face and not got anyone at all...
The 6 month loan as well might well see us through both the UEFA Cup and Carling Cup Campaign if things don't go well for us, in which case we could let him go as surplus to requirement. It seems to me a cheap option to bulster the squad. More money left for other players that way.
a theory that i have - most probably way off the mark - is that maybe sahar is also acting as a 'sweetener' from chelski? we take him on loan and give him some 1st team football at the highest level and in return we get 1st option on SWP?
