I guess just this once wont hurt...

I guess just this once wont hurt...

The lot down the road have not had a lot to shout about recently, but for once in recent years it looks as though they might be about to get one over their 'bigger - and better - brother' with setanta sports claiming that the Saints will beat us to the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin.

The French under 19 captain has been linked with Pompey, but wanted assurances over a first team place. With us unwilling to offer him this, if reports are to be believed he decided that he did not really want to come here - so be it... It is said that he will sign a 5 year contract with the Saints, as they will give him that guaranteed football.

Maybe he will become a world star, but there will be others so if this does happen, and as they have not had much to shout about in recent times with us well and truly looking down on them after donkies years of it being the over way round I will not see this as too much of a 'snub' to be honest, and they can have their moment in the sun.

I am still not quite sure how they could afford Schneiderlin though to be honest as the fee that we were claimed to have offered Strasbourg was £1m - given their current financial plight could they even afford this...

We could put that £1m that we will save towards the Peter Crouch fund couldn't we!

Where would they have found £1 mill from, unless they are going to pay it over 5 years? I can't imagine they just found that money behind the goal or anything.

Well if he wants guarantees he ain't going to get them from us. If wants to play for a successful team he ain't gonna get it from them either.

I see the lad is quoted as saying the S***hampton have a good record for bringing youngsters through. Our record for developing youngsters is abysmal and this lad won't be the last to do this until we sort it out.

Well his statement says that he basically was not happy to be in the reserves, even though he couldn't force himself into a regular first team place in France.

What do we hope for from the rest of the season?

There seems to be a lot of unhappiness around, despite a pretty decent season in my opinion. Well, certainly our best season in a long while.

Debut delight...kind of!

It wasn't a result, and in many ways a performance, for Sheff United loanee Freeman to remember too fondly as he didn't really have a great game against Orient? Then again who did!

Tubbs has left the building

Tubbs has finally left Pompey; perhaps his destination is something of a surprise then again there had been some 'rumours' recently of an Eastleigh interest.
