Talking Pompey with pompey4me

Vital Pompey has previously brought you the 'knowing me knowing you series' - which is still running, so others will be added and if you want to do one just email - now we have a little something extra this summer...

pompey4me was asked 5 quick questions, this is what they said.

  • What are you expecting from Pompey in the coming season?
I expect Pompey to hold down a top ten spot, make the group stages of the UEFA cup, play a second string in the league cup, and give the FA cup a good crack too. Paramount is premier league placing, but we are past the point of concentrating on staying in the premier league now aren't we?! (Hope that doesn't sound complacent, it's just my opinion, I'm confident.)

  • Uefa cup - are you a fan of us being in this, or are you against it? Either way how well do you reckon we can do?
I'm a big fan of us being in the UEFA Cup. I am going to do my utmost to take my wife and kids abroad to see Pompey play our first ever European away game. I think we'll put up a good fight, and progress into the group stage. (Here's me being a little unsure of how the comp works.)

  • Which 3 players - that we could realistically sign - would you like to see arrive this summer?
Don't know the prices, therefore how realistic, but I'd like us to sign:
    Crouch
    Bentley
    Dunne

  • If you had to select 1 player to get shot of - or maybe to rephrase or make this decision easier, 'sacrifice' - to make a signing who would it be and why?
GET SHOT OF UTAKA.... Do I need to explain why? Those that know me don't need me to explain! Please don't start me off.

  • How many Pompey games do you expect to make this season?
I'm going to take my wife and kids to the Charity Shield, that will be our away game for next season (we always pick one to go to) All the home games, then I am desperate to get to the first Europe away game.

Thanks to pompey4me for answering these.

    PLAY UP POMPEY!

That'll be fun Simon taking the family into Europe. Best of luck with that :) Nice to think we might get Bentley, can't see it though. Agree with your objectives too. Chris.
    ChrisW
Nice one Si; Utaka was a bit of a surprise, though.
    UKTony
NIce one Simon, if Utaka reads this site he will have his bags packed already.
    eastneydave
Bentley would be great but he is far too big for his own boots and would probably never even consider us.

I Think I am the only person who like Utaka. Yes I swear at him just like everyone else, but I do think he will be great this season.
    sneakay
you're wrong there Sneakay, I have defended Utaka for months -see my talking Pompey article when it comes out.
    ChrisW
Hi P4ME. Utaka is running away with the 'out' competition. g ood answers mate, with you all the way on them.
    storagematt
I agree with Sneakay, i think Utaka is going to change a few's minds this season. Didnt think he was that good last year, but have a feeling this year will prove everyone wrong.
    Midge
WEY a whole 3 other ppl tht want utaka to stay i'm with u sneakay, chrisW and midge lol =) bt yea nice answers i think i pretty much agree with all of em
    pompeym@
good answers m8 totally agree with u on utaka but people say he will turn out better this season but will he ?
    stfc ballboy
Storagematt - if Utaka is running away with the "out" competition, it will be the first time he has run this year! Yes, I think he should go - closely followed by Kanu.
    Gandor
So, thats 4 of you that want to keep him!! lol. Listen, I was against signing Johnson permanently due to his attitude second half of the season before, but he turned it round big style. Hope Utaka can, because I agree fellas, he does have potential and ability, but that makes it even more frustrating. Glad none of you think I was overstepping the mark about staying in the league, given the correct leadership in 'arry, with good astute signings, we will to establish ourselves as a regular top 10 team.
    pompey4me
Ha Ha Ha good one Gandor! Im with you P4me, I for got the 'away' (although it feels more like home lately) At Wembley. Ms Penton's 1st forage into the 2nd home.
    pentonpompey
I feared the same P4me, I thought i was being too negative. But top 10 should be realistic each year certainly. Ps. Good pics of you and the Jr P4Me's at Wembley
    pentonpompey
Thanks penton, it is a great day out, the Wembley tour, well worth it.
    pompey4me
I hope you lot are right and that Utaka will be better this season. He has the ability but he just doesn't make the effort.
    tracyc
An improvement in Utaka you all cry,, How much of an improvement ? He could quadruple his work rate and still be considered lazy.. Good answers Simon, not sure I agree that we are past the 'staying-up' stage (well I'm not at least) but realsistic ambitions on all fronts shows your feet are firmly on the floor.
