New signing Glen Little has urged his former Reading teammate - and best mate - Nicky Shorey to join him at Pompey.
Harry Redknapp has already admitted an interest in the England man and now Little has added his weight to the growing calls that Pompey is the right place for him, telling The News: 'Nicky is my best mate so of course I am going to say good things about him. But I would love to see him sign for Portsmouth as well - and they would also be getting a very good player.
'He lives just round the corner from me on the outskirts of Reading and we are always going out together. We are always round each others' houses and he was my room partner at Reading.
'I know a few of the Pompey players but it would be fantastic to have my best mate in the dressing room as well down here. I'd love it.
'Reading have already got the hump with me for leaving so I am not going to try to upset people saying he should go and sign for so and so. But at the end of the day I want what's best for him and he should follow me down here.
'He wants to be in the Premier League, he's an England player and has been the best left-back in the Championship for a number of years.
'Reading won't want him to go on the cheap but it would be great if I could see more of him - so I want him to come to Portsmouth as well.'
As previously said I would welcome a Shorey signing - the fact that we signed his best mate gives us even more chance of getting him now. At £3m-£4m he will hardly break the bank will he!
==========
The News is billing him as 'a Strasbourg ace', but Morgan Schneiderlin, who claims a £1m offer for him has been accepted is unsure if he wants to come to Pompey: 'nothing's done with Portsmouth. I can't confirm I'm going to sign with them.
'I am currently thinking, and to be honest they are not my favourite destination. There's another possibility that I do fancy. It's about playing regularly.'
At the end of the day if he is uncertain about the move the simple solution if for him not to come here, I would expect this has put a few doubts at our end now - that is if we even do want him? There will be others that we could turn to couldn't we - at 18 I would not expect him to be a regular, unless he is some sort of prodigy...
Do we really want anyone to sign for us if they do not really want to? An easy one to answer, nope.
==========
And finally, the Peter Crouch saga has taken another twist today with reports that others have joined the chase for him...
Villa have been long term admirers like ourselves, but Citeh are said to have rejoined the hunt and another former club Spurs are interested in him and Yossi Benayoun, with the most surprising being Arsenal.
Villa, Citeh, maybe even Spurs I could believe but I have this suspicion that these 'reports' have come about more as a result of our reluctance to pay Liverpool more than we want to - maybe someone is trying to squeeze a few more quid out of us by telling a few porkies...

I think it's not a case that Morgan Shne... does not want to come to us but wants regular first team football. Football before money is a good thing. I would hope we get him on thaty basis alone. Someone who would fight for a place in the starting 11
i suspect that all has been agreed with the bin dippers, and crouchy on terms - they will take £9m as they need the money, they just want it all in 1 lump sum, not some now the rest later. this is all we need to iron out... i know its not as easy as it sounds, but if we are prepared to eventually pay £9m, for the sake of 'a mere' million or so lets not cut off our nose to spite our face, cut kanu loose if need to, therefore saving his wages and put that towards crouchy...
