Kan-u believe it, not again!

Do you ever get the feeling of déjà vu guys? If not then I think you will do now as it is being reported that Kanu is refusing to sign the new contract - which as we know has been on the table since January - because he wants a 2 year deal, not the 1 that he has...

He is being quoted as having told Brila FM, which I assume is an African radio station: 'the true situation is that I had my contract with me since January, but I have refused to put pen-to-paper just yet.

'I don't want to put pen on something I believe is not what I deserve.

'I cannot sign for just one year when I have done so much for the club. Winning the FA Cup and playing well during the season should qualify me for more than a one-year extension.

'I believe for them to really appreciate my efforts with the team last season, they have to top it up with one more year. That`s where we are now and we are still discussing.'

Well 'King Kanu' if you do not like the offer - which was already something that had pampered to your previous wishes - you could always go back to the park we found you in when we took you on when no one else wanted you!

If you remember we had this trouble last summer, he would not sign a 1 year contract, so a compromise was eventually met where we gave him a year with the option of a 2nd if he played enough games, he did so he triggered this clause but will not sign it as he wants 2 years again - is he taking the p**s now or what?

No doubt he is trying to get out of pre season training for a 3rd year running, but as much as I appreciate him scoring the goals that got us into, and then won us the FA cup I would tell him to sign what he has got or leave this time. He knew the score this time last year.

Harry Redknapp says that he will not be held to ransom as far as signing players goes, so why should this be any different as far as offering players new terms is also concerned?

My own thinking is that this time we cannot give into his threats, it is time to say sign the contract or sod off if it is not good enough for you...

Kanu a bridge too far. Good point Rug about getting out of training. What type of contract for the second year was agreed initially? It all looks one way to me and very unprofessional regarding both parties. No thank you Kanu.Having two players on the park refusing to run was bad. Hopefully we are now down to one.

I think HR will reword it publicly. He can have what he wants, 1 season at a time providing he plays the games. No one can take away what he has done for Pompey but Kanu has done well out of Pompey too. Sign or move on.

I think we all saw this coming to be honest, whether he signs this time or not may depend on who comes in. If Sahar and Crouch arrive then there will be no need for his services. A slightly sad but true fact.

Honestly i'd let him go, it will drag on like last year, he'll come back unfit without a pre-season. If we had other decent strikers up front they'd (probably) have scored the goals that he did at Wembley, yes he's useful to have in the squad but as sneakay said if we sign 1 or 2 top class forwards we have no need for him.

Brila FM is Africa's first Sports only station. This is becoming an annual event now. I agree sign or move on - remember who resurrected your career!

Here we go again. I will say exactly the same as last summer. Thank you so much for the memories, and bye. Christ he can't run now! what on earth will he be like in 2 years? Will we have to defrost him before every game? It's bad enough sometimes playing Man u and the like with 11 players, but with Kanu, Utaka Papa and Muntari all hindering, god help us. I know lots won't agree with my opinion, but it is just that...my opinion

I cannot believe "for them to really appreciate my efforts etc.," OF COURSE we appreciate his efforts - we pay him don't we? I think it is time Kanu had a chant all of his own "So long - its been good to know you".

The man has some great skills, but the best skill he has now is getting out of pre season training as Rug pointed out would be the 3rd year in a row.

it *****ed me off last season when he got out of pre season, whereas others ran their nuts off - yet as soon as the season came round and he was 'mentally right' he was back in the side no questions asked! he cannot be allowed to do this again as its just not fair and he always ends up playing catch-up fitness wise...
if he'll sign the year give it him, of not he needs to go!

i love the guy, hes got a great touch and hes been a great servant to the club, but hes not got the fitness as it is...think how he'll be after another 18 months.

PFC is not a charity driven by sentiment - we need to spend money on promising players who are going to help us be consistent contenders for Europe. It's time to bow out gracefully. Sounds like most people wouldn't mind it all ending now, let alone a ONE year contract...

get rid of him he's a waste of space. he was saying straight after the final he wanted more money for winning the cup. what about the other players that played then. Harry tell him to f# off and resign Benjani who would sign a contract tommorrow without looking at it.

I'd like him to stay but I would not put up with the "I deserved better" stance. I would tell him sign this week or tear the contract up and thanks for your services but see you later.

I really dislike people negotiating their contracts in the media at the best of times, but this "PFC owe me" crap is getting a bit old. Who else was going to pay him good money to not train, get a guaranteed first team place and an FA Cup winners medal last year? For crying out loud, if this guy "deserves" two years, we'd better give Linvoy another decade, because we owe him a lot more than we owe Kanu. The whole Pompey-Kanu thing has been mutually beneficial, I'd say. He's done very well for us, but if he thinks that other strikers couldn't have given us just as much in the same team, he's starting to believe his own press statements.

Put him under pressure by signing other strikers, he'll soon sign then.

He did a job he was paid to do. He was part of a team - end of. He needs to go, he has gone too far. If Harry entertains him now, he is sending out the wrong signals. (I suspect we have one or two other prima donnas lurking around). Tiny Ts right, sign some other strikers - he'll soon sign then.

Well said Gandor, yes their are others lurking. "HR" needs to show his metal, goodbye Kanu, everyone is agreed. The most one sided post of recent times.

He got a 2 year contract last year, the new one was year2 rolling onwards, thing is he is getting slower by the week, yes we will remember the winning goal in the final, but if I recall that was the only contribution he made in the final (besides hitting the post in front of an open goal) Maybe its time for that to be our last memory of Kanu in a pompey shirt

He wouldn't get another premiership team 'quietman' he can hardly walks from the bench to the pitch. Sorry Kanu, it's time to go and if you think you are going get a heros welcome next season, you a sorely mistaken... Too many bridges now burnt.
