Shorey next up for Pompey?

'Links' with Nicky Shorey have been growing recently, and now Harry Redknapp has admitted a liking for the Reading left back.

It as the usually Redknapp talk, the 'I like him' speech, with him saying: 'Shorey is a player I like. He's a good player and a good footballer. We're looking for players who would give us something a bit different, and he would do that.

'He would give us something different to Hermann. Having said that, Hermann did a fantastic job for us and was brilliant for me.

'But we are going to need a squad and we are going to need cover. We are going to be playing more games than ever next season and it's going to be a lot tougher for us.'

I would welcome the signing myself to be honest and Shorey has made it clear that he wants to leave Reading, so with him only having year on his contract he could be signed for around £3m, which I do not think is bad at all.

Could he become the second player to arrive from Reading, would we even want this? Thoughts please guys...

Although Harry may like him I can't see him coming to us to be a squad player. I think he will more likely move to a club wherethey will give him regular first team action. I don't see him replacing Herman in that first team spot.

I take your point seakey but Noe kept HH out because Noe was very good there. If Shorey is good enough he'll keep HH out. If Shorey wants to get back to playing for England he can't expect an easy ride with a guaranteed place each week.

I firmly believe that left backs must n=be left footed and Noe is not (despite his screamer at Newcastle). Hermann is pushing 34 too. Would be a good signing.

Yes, should be a purchase and I hope he signs. HH is not an ideal LB and I think Shorey could give us that little bit of an attacking option down the left hand side.

Was very impressed with Shorey when I saw him play for England, got to be worth a shout.

He would be a good addition, but no player is garuanteed a starting spot I feel Harry will rotate the older players especially with Europe in mind.

I'd be happy with shorey in the squad. though if we get everyone were linked with we'll have half an england team. jamo, johnson, SWP, defoe, crouchie, shorey

A late Barnet goal looked as though it would end Pompey's unbeaten run but Conor Chaplin proved the saviour when he scored a last minute equaliser to earn a point in a 1-1 draw.
