'Arry admits Benayoun interest

Pompey were 'linked' with Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun over the weekend, and now Harry Redknapp has admitted an interested in the Israeli but he is not sure what our chances are of getting him...

He told The News: 'he's a top player. I don't know what the chances are of getting him out of Liverpool.

I already thought that over the weekend Benayoun had already said he wanted to stay with Liverpool? But there you go...

Redknapp also spoke about Peter Crouch, playing down the chances of signing him - indicating that the price might be too much for us: 'it's known I like Crouchie, too. But it doesn't look like anything is happening there. I think Liverpool want a bit too much money for him.

'If that's the case then we'll move on to the next option.'

Benayoun would cost a 'reported' 6m, with Citeh also interested, whereas Crouch's value is said to be around 10m, the same amount 'reported' for another target Shawn Wright-Phillips, which I would guess would rule him out as well...

I have to admit, I like Yossi and think he is quality but cant see him leaving the pool just yet... and maybe crouch does want to wait till next year and then cash in on the transfer himself!

I can't see him leaving this season. If he doesn't get a good run in the team then maybe in Jan or next summer, but not this early into his career.

Think he will stay with Liverpool, SWP would be a better option.

Early in his career at 28 not realy early for a midfield player, I must say he does look young though.

Would like Yossi and SWP and I'm slowly coming around to the thought of Crouch, but if the papers and websites are to be believed (which of course they are not) Yossi don't wanna move, Crouch was 48 hours away from signing as at last Monday and there has been no contact re SWP... ah well we'll see soon enough. I mean there's only another 15 weeks before the transfer Window closes !!

Benayoun chips in with quite a few goals over the season. He would be a good provider of crosses also if you could get crouch.

Both looking unlikely though Dazza... Unless Harry has paniced Rafa with his 'final offer tactic..
