'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gone But Not Forgotten

This season is our third in the premiership.

The first two we survived quite comfortably in the end, but his season we have looked the most part dis-jointed, and lacking in leadership and creativity.

In our promotion season, Harry Redknapp had a team who were 80% new to each other yet gelled from day one.

Alain Perrin ripped apart last seasons squad, Yak was always going to
leave, Stone, Hislop and Berger not offered contracts, De Zeeuw sold
during pre-season and the prima-donna Robert bought in as our BIG signing.

Who have we missed most?

The Yak had his critics, but was worth at least 15-20 goals a season, this year we're struggling to score that as a team, despite bringing in Karadas(1), Silva(3), Benjani(0), Mbesumba(0), Olisadebe(0) and Todorov and Pericard have been in the most part over-looked. It sums everything up when our top-scorer is a left-back/left-winger!

De Zeeuw left as he was deemed surplus to requirements, he has gone on to captain a cup-finalist team and his leadership and desire earn him m-o-m awards week in, week out in Wigan. Stone and Berger have spent nearly all the season injured, Stone looking like he may be finished.

Can you really hope to remove the spine from a team, and hope for instant success?
Pompey have no real characters on the pitch, dedicated as Stefanovic is, he doesn't have the same presence as Captain.

Lua-Lua says he wants to stay whatever next season, if we go down I think we will lose Taylor and O'Neil, and we will probably have to watch as at least one of them challenges for major honours.

Who do fellow Pompey fans miss the most? and who do we replace them with close-season?

Thanks Paul

How many games have Berger and Stone played this season combined? De Zeeuw was tapped up before we went to France so it didnt happen out of the blue.

Bring back Terry Fenwick - the best manager we have had foe a long ime

Scoring goals wins games, we have consistently not done that. Perhaps we should change our name to Pompey Nil !!

I thought we were Pompey Nil. Unfortunatly we sold Yak who was a 20 goal striker a season. andour only other 20+ goal striker isn't fit. All the fans have heard all season is Toddy isn't fit or ready to play yet. I saw him play against Bournemouth in a pre-season friendly and 6 months on we're told he still isn't ready to start games and scoring goals. Mbsuma is the same not yet fit. What do they do on the training pitch?..... We never replace Yak and certainly never replaced De Zeuuw

Nelson if only we could fight our Trafalgar at Fratton...then surely Harry at the helm wouldn't say "Not over the side"....maybe "Kiss me Jim".
pompeygray
de zeuuw was the best role model we could have wished for . but we miss the yak the most. because our defence is solidish weareas our attack is just not working they are all good players no doubt but the yak could gel onto anyone.

We need another Whittingham & Walsh partnership. Which is why I'm surprised Pericard is being touted to Plymouth for next season. We all saw what Toddy & Pericard could do together in the lower league and also with Lua Lua in the partnership who knows what could happen next year. But one thing every Pompey fan wants is goals and lots of goals mean promotion as long as there in our opositions net and not our own.

NEWSPAPER HEADLINE 2015 DERELICT FRATTON PARK FORCED TO CLOSE. Pepsi Cola League 3 strugglers Portsmouth FC will be without a ground for the 2016/2017 season following an FA report as to the unsafeness of the Stands. This will force them to ground share with either Havant or Southampton until a suitable alternative can be found. Following several relegations in the last 10 years the plans for the GROUND THAT MILAN WOULD BUILD was scuppered and the old existing Fratton Park maintained. With only 1,150 supporters to watch their last match played there against Aldershot, their plight worsened when the safety squad were called in....... Yawn....I've woken up, it was only a bad dream - we are still in the Premiership....yippee, and Fratton Park....maybe we can change the future before it happens.

we just need a team of leaders, more than one captain on the pitch

De Zeeuw is a top class centre back. He hes been under-rated for most of his career.

yeh a team of leaders who have played in the english leagues b4

I agree with Ian. I don't want you to go down, really I don't. I'm not sure you'd come straight back up.
