Diarra and Kranjcar out/Crouch and Nobby in

Lassana Diarra and Niko Kranjcar were once again 'linked' with moves away from Pompey over the weekend - nothing new there then!

Citeh are the team that have apparently joined the race for Diarra, with an £8m offer being prepared. The only possible reason that I could see this happening - as this would without any doubt not be a forward step football wise - is if the fella is more interested in bumping up his wages than anything else?

He will not be going to Citeh though, I am sure of it...

Roma are the team this time being 'linked' with Kranjcar.

This is the type of club that you could see him leaving for, but I would again doubt this will happen as I am certain that he will be starting the season with Pompey - maybe as a European Championship winner as well as an FA cup winner...

==========

Those being linked with moves into Fratton are both names that are well known to Pompey and the 'linked to' columns.

Of course the Peter Crouch talk has been rumbling on pretty much day in day out for the past few weeks, months even but it is claimed that a deal will finally be arranged for him to sign either this, or next week for around £8m?

Nolberto Solano has been linked with Pompey several times in the past, and with the 33 year old now a free agent after he was released by West Ham the suggestion is that Harry Redknapp wants to give him one last crack in the top flight...

The fella is past his best, but as a free agent and as a squad player he would be worth a crack wouldn't he?

All possibilities to go ahead or fall flat. My money is on the Solano deal going ahead and the rest falling flat.
frattonaussie
crouchy will return...
pompeyrug
cant see either of the midfielders going anywhere unless silly money is paid (personally think its all silly money anyway) Like crouch to come but cant even see nobby as a squad player
pompeykenya
Solano looked downright poor in his last few matches for West Ham, sure some nice dead balls but he sort of reminds me of the player we needed in the Championship winning season, not when we are trying to push for top 4 honours.
ChrisW
Anything is possible with the silly money about. Diarra & Niko could go at some point soon, which point soon is the question? Now, January or next summer!!! If & when they do, we move on, we have to. We'll get players in, Crouch would be great & Nobby is a clever player, will boost the squad.
storagematt
it's a funny world guys - I like Kranky and Lassie but don't see either of them as our best players...
ChrisW
you will do well with crouch and defoe upfront... of course diarra is coming to us tho ;) YID ARMY
darrenn17
I don't think Diarra is going anywhere darren17 so I think it about time that Spurs went elsewhere to do some shopping. Nobby, could maybe teach Utaka how to run up and down the wings properly if he came.
sneakay
I agree Sneakay, I cant see him going unless one of the 4 "true" big clubs come in for him and 2 of those he has already played for!! At this stage I would rather we lost Niko than Diarra but then that is a worst case that I would obviously not like to see!!!!!
Sachas_Brother
Agree with you ChrisW, Nobby is no where near as good as some of the sqaud players who will probably leave this summer so what's the point?
Et_tu_Pompeii
imo it's not the midfield you need to worry about, we have strength in depth there and losing one of those guys or even both is not the end of the world. As HR said we are light in defence and up front - so the loss of Defoe and or Distin or Johnson would for me be much more significant.
ChrisW
If Diarra went to City and the deal was linked to a Benji return, this would then mean no Crouch and I would be happy. Only dreaming!!!
007
Let's get real about this shall we ?!? If Diarra is going anywhere, it would have to be a Big 4 club or to La Liga. He's done Chelsea and Arsenal and there are no more elite clubs in London, so that sojourns at Liverpool or Manyoo. I can see him at Manyoo at some point, but their all full up at his position right now, and Liverpool don't need him either. Why would he move to another 5-10th place club when he likes where he is, is surrounded by fellow francophones and is making great money ? DREAM ON SPURS FANS.
Toronto4Pompey
...and here's a prediction. Even with all the cash they're throwing around at White Hart Lane, we'll still finish ahead of them next season.
Toronto4Pompey
would welcome solano ok he is past is best but a good squad player and also cover for utaka ,he can also cross a ball and a set piece speacialist !
stfc ballboy
Last time I saw Solano play was at Fratton, remember?
paultsmouth
In Crouch, Solano not for me , but Harry may say yes. Diarra won't move to another prem club this summer,& as for Krancjar let's hope he stays.
pompeyyong
Surely Solano is too old. Even if he comes on a free transfer we will still have to pay wages for him - thats money we can be using to attract another player. At the end of the day, even if Harry can squeeze another season out of him, long term he's no use to us.
Gandor
Harry is not looking long term for Solano. In 2010 it appears likely football clubs will have a limit on the number of foreign players they can field. Pompey will have a good number of English and some foreign players coming up through the academy who will be ready and expected to star in 2010. For now Harry will be looking for some good players to be with us for a few seasons and some good squad players who cost nothing and we can offload at the end of next season. Average players that cost money are not going to be looked at unless they are English.
frattonaussie
Why would Diarra go to City other than for the dosh? As for Solano, I think he has dropped down in class and consistency. frattonaussie, whilst it may be a good idea, the EU will ensure the English quota ruling can't be applied. Indeed, Liverpool had a squad with very few English players back in '85 and, indeed, the likes of Leeds and Man Utd back in the 70's lacked English players; many were Scottish, Welsh, Irish or from Northern Ireland. When this argument comes up, there's always a confusion between English, British and Irish (Eire).
NinjaTim
Agreed, Diarra to Citeh is for the cash, not credibility. Kranjcar (who is awesome) will go to a monster club one day, lets accept it and deal with it. Solano is a top freebie and Crouch with Defoe would rock!
